Question from a newcomer.

In the christian religion; what are people talking about when they talk about judgement. Is everyone 'judged' by God?

Read Romans 3:23 and 6:23, then read Romans 10, verses 9 and 10.

Then to really understand it read all of Romans chapter 5.

This will only take you about 15 minutes and the answer is better than anything I might write here.

God bless

I've read and will re-read the passages and I'm still not sure I understand.
Perhaps this will help.
The bible states that adulterers and whoremongerers will be judged.
What will happen to them? Is this synonymous with damnation and/or punishment? Perhaps it just means God passively judges.

Again I am a newcomer so please forgive my ignorance.

The verses I gave you to read should lead you to understand that without Jesus everyone is already judged and will miss eternal life with Jesus.

There are many references to sins in the NT, and judgement that comes from sins. However, it's the nature of natural man to sin and that's what these passages are about. Even in our churches you will find people that are attenders but not saved, they are natural men/women and slaves to the natural condition of man, that condition came from Adam, it's in every one of us.

The only way to heaven is though Jesus. John 14:6
The only way to escape the wages of sin is given in Romans 10: 9-10

I hope this helps.

hello

my understanding is that the bible doesnt given a completed understanding of judgement... indeed the qoutes you have been given are ideas and forms of sin relief but ultimate judgement is not known as Jesus says in John 16:5-16, that the truth about judgement is yet to come.

This is from the 'Holy Spirit' which as a newcomer myself, i dont neccessarily understand how it can be attributed to be the holy spirit since Jesus said this comforter will come only after he departd from this world and that this spirit had not been around before... We know the spirit was there with elizabeth and at the baptism for sure... so how we have gone along accepting its the Holy Spirit is beyond me? if anyone cares to explain these failings?

I think you will find more truth about judgement, when you discover who the spirit actually is... I am on the search myself

elder mike,

you qouted John 14:6 which i agree with... as it is the words of Jesus... what about those daily teachings of the churches I have found on a weekly basis that rely on the Pauline teachings that contradict Jesus?

have we gone in the way of Jesus if we follow the 'enlightment and understanding' paul bought?

not if he contradicts Jesus, i dont think... should we not just stick to Jesus' teaching, since he told us many will come in his name and change the course of the truth... by taking away his work...

I have found zero contradictions in what Paul's letters to what Jesus taught.

Elder Mike

In response to your zero contradictions, please consider the below:

In Jesus, his followers were commanded to complete the fasting rite, similar to that commanded upon the Jews by God through Moses. In the given references from the Bible, we can see that Jesus claims that fasting is compulsory for a person to attain salvation.

Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting. (Matthew 17:21)

And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting. (Mark 9:29)

Now in the twenty and fourth day of this month the children of Israel were assembled with fasting, and with sackclothes, and earth upon them. (Nehemiah 9:1)

And in every province, whithersoever the king's commandment and his decree came, [there was] great mourning among the Jews, and fasting, and weeping, and wailing; and many lay in sackcloth and ashes. (Esther 4:3)

But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing [was] sackcloth: I humbled my soul with fasting; and my prayer returned into mine own bosom. (Psalms 35:13)

When I wept, [and chastened] my soul with fasting, that was to my reproach. (Psalms 69:10)
My knees are weak through fasting; and my flesh faileth of fatness. (Psalms 109:24)

Therefore also now, saith the LORD, turn ye [even] to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning: (Joel 2:12)

Let us now consider the viewpoint of Paul on this matter. We find that Paul had distorted these viewpoints and commands of Jesus by claiming that the route to salvation comes merely from having faith. Paul is known to have preached the belief that through faith, salvation was earned and that the need or uses of the ‘Law’ were no longer necessary to follow usually attributed to the nailing of the commandments, which is recorded but the author was never present. In doing so, we find that Paul eradicated the Law of fasting, which is now practiced by a limited number of Christians during Lent, although the practice of fasting has been removed again through the utterances of Paul.

Circumcision, practised by the jews at the time of jesus and one of the commandments to seperate people of god from those who were astray, is another contradiction. Paul says that circumcision is of no benefit yet we find that jesus as we recall in Matthew 5, says he has not come to remove the law but to fulfill it. If jesus dies for our sins, then why is it that he said he had come to fulfil since we have removed them now.

FoodStuffs was proclaimed by Jesus in a similar way, we see the prohibition of certain foods in the OT, which if we condier what jesus said as noted previously would still stand. Indeed in peters vision, when read in context is describing the preaching to the gentiles rather then the allowing of all foods, we can take that foods were not all permitted after jesus' departure since this vision came long after him and peter was still abstaining from those meats and foods... what did paul say?

"I (Paul) am fully convinced no food is unclean in itself” (Romans 14:14)

"All things are permissible" (1 Corinthians 6:12)

is this therefore not a contradiction?

I could go on for days on this, since i believe in jesus and not paul but i leave you with this... and i hope you can tell me how you have not seen these contradictions... if paul was to bring understanding, he would have maintained jesus' words and not changed them... jesus spoke the 'word' not paul... am i right in this, since this is what i was taught in my youth...

“He (Jesus) brought the hostility to an end, by abolishing the Law of commandments with its regulations”. (Ephesians 2:14) - PAUL

Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one title shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach [them], the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. (Matthew 5:17-20) - JESUS

i must emphasize that although christianity holds fasting, prayer and all the rest dearly and as great deeds, it does not classify them as compulasory for salvation because of pauls teachings... this goes against jesus' taught ways of achieving salvation... through works and actions not by professing statements... this must be considered when address what paul taught and what jesus did...
