I got this idea from someone else. If you want to serve God more, what should you do?
One answer is to read the Bible more carefully and more often. This will bring you closer to God and make you better able to serve.
Yep. But you're really supposed to already be studying the Bible carefully and often. But studying it more often and more carefully is always a good idea.
Of course, there are plenty of other ways you can serve God:
Become a minister, pastor, or reverend
Be a door greeter for your church
Be an evangelist whether as an extra thing you do or as a full time job
Maybe if We served Him more at what We already are doing now, Being in the fields , I feel that the fields are whiter unto harvest than they ever have been. Of course the crop is probably harder to harvest than ever it has been . Through the Holy Spirit great wonders can be done but He does need more and more workers as the great and glorious day of the Lord approaches.
The only Way the Church can receive more workers it must get into the Fields, that is His Great Commission and that is what is needed in order that His Kingdom will expand and that more would be saved from the pestilence and ravages of Satan. He wants no portion of His crop to be lost He wants all to come into the storehouse Weeds and tares alike and there with care in gleaning the seed can be separated from the chaff on the threshing room floor. With the Power of His Holy Spirit great things can be done. All Power is Gods on earth and in Heaven ,let all Give Him Praise Glory and Honor...Amen....Dave
I came across this verse a few minutes ago: Hosea 10:12 Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the LORD, till he come and rain righteousness upon you.
The entire context refers to Israel's having turned away from God and lost their blessing. God tells them to start doing right, so the He will ease up on their punishment.
He nest tells them to break up their fallow ground: the ground that is good, but useless, because they aren't doing anything with it. And then He tells them to keep seeking Him until he works in their lives.
I operate the projector at church in the sound booth.
(I don't think that they did that a long time ago)
I also do electrical work for my church and a few others who need the services of an electrician. (usually it is the sound system needing the wiring...but not always) Sometimes the lights need ballasts or they need a new plug put in. Sometimes some new recepticles...or just someone who isn't scared of heights to climb a 40 foot extention ladder to change some bulbs out.
Later I was thinking of being support for some of our missionaries out in the field. They have sewing factories in order to give prostitutes a choice in profession...or other things that need an electrician. Like a ground system for a really arid climate...so that people won't get electrocuted when turning on the light or starting a generator.
Most of those doing electrical work in Churchs today aren't qualified electricians...and most church fires are the result of faulty electrical work. People wanting to help or patch things up so that they work sometimes have no real clue as to the work that they are doing...
Especially now that the economy is down...and money is tight for a lot of churchs...corners get cut on maintenance and...the full results will come out in a few years. Plumbing usually gets shortcut too..."oh it is just a little water" is the thought line....it'll dry.
The wife helps with the children 'stuff' at church, which means I get 'voluteered' for setting up, taking down stuff, moving things, etc, lol, which I love to do anyway.
Our youth group meets together twice a week, but then, there are smaller disciple groups that meet at various intervals. I and another adult lead one that consists of five senior boys. We meet once a week and study a chapter in the Bible. We also talk about whatever is going on in their lives, and offer help for whatever problems they may be facing, whether it be 'hormones', drugs, alcohol, school, parents, etc. We try to give them Biblical advice on how to handle the stuggles that they as teenagers face daily...it seems to be working, thank God!
I'm looking to get my family more involved in something. I'm thinking of loading them up one day and head to the local soup kitchen and volunteer for a while. I wish to start my kids out early, keep them on the straight and narrow, etc.
One place that seems to need more attention in my area are the single parents. There are a few single moms at our church who really seem to be struggling, though they don't admit it.

Reason: spelling..oops
First and foremost, live as Christ lived! Without the fruits of the Spirit (Love, patience, kindness, joy, etc) your witness to the world in any Christian role will be ineffective.
