However, there are scriptures that indicate that all sins aren't the same. Look at our legal system. Some broken laws require a fine paid, while others require your life, either in prison or literally.

1 John 5:16-17
6 If anyone sees his brother commit a sin that does not lead to death, he should pray and God will give him life. I refer to those whose sin does not lead to death. There is a sin that leads to death . I am not saying that he should pray about that. 17 All wrongdoing is sin, and there is sin that does not lead to death.

Sin is to know some thing is wrong and willfully commit the act anyway.

Paul tells us: Galatians 5:16“Let me put it like this if you are guided by the Spirit you will be in no danger of yielding to self-indulgence....”.

Jesus tells us that to love him one needs to live the Word of God.

A deliberate sin is a deliberate slap in Jesus’ face. Before Jesus gave us his Holy Spirit we were not able to live sinless. Now one is able to love Jesus.

(Hebrews 10:26-31) “If, after we have been given knowledge of the truth, we should deliberately commit any sins, then there is no longer any sacrifice for them. There is left only the dreadful prospect of judgment and of the fiery wrath that is to devour your enemies.Anyone who disregards the Law of Moses is ruthlessly put to death on the word of two witnesses or three; and you may be sure that anyone who tramples on the Son of God, and who treats the blood of the covenant which sanctified him as if it were not holy, and who insults the Spirit of grace, will be condemned to a far severer punishment. We are all aware who it was that said: Vengeance is mine; I will vindicate his people. It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

(Hebrews 6: 4) “As for those people who were once brought into the light, and tasted the gift from heaven, and received a share of the Holy Spirit, and appreciated the good message of God and the powers of the world to come and yet in spite of this have fallen away it is impossible for that to be renewed a second time. They cannot be repentant if they have willfully crucified the Son of God and openly mocked Him.”
(Acts 5:1-11) “There was another man, however, called Ananias. He and his wife, Sapphira, agreed to sell a property; but with his wife’s connivance he kept back part of the proceeds, and brought the rest and presented it to the apostles. Ananias, Peter said ‘now can Satan have so possessed you that you should lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the money from the land? While you still owned the land, wasn’t it yours to keep, and after you had sold it wasn’t the money yours to do with as you liked? What put this scheme into your mind? It is not to men that you have lied, but to God. When he heard this Ananias fell down dead. This made a profound impression on everyone present. The younger men got up, wrapped the body in a sheet, carried it out and buried it.

About three hours later his wife came in, not knowing what had taken place. Peter challenged her, ‘Tell me was this the price you sold the land for? ‘Yes,’ she said ‘that was the price.’ Peter then said, ‘So you and your husband have agreed to put the Spirit of the Lord to the test! What made you do it? You hear those footsteps? They have just been to bury your husband; they will carry you out, too.’ Instantly she dropped dead at his feet. When the young men came in they found she was dead, and they carried her out and buried her by the side of her husband. This made a profound impression on the whole Church and on all who heard it.

I agree, the bible does say that. However, I don't see that reflected in reality. There are people who over come sins through will power, and they don't have the holy spirit, they aren't even religious. OR, maybe they do have the holy spirit but they don't know it?

So I don't see any difference in reality between the lives of people who say they have the holy spirit and ones who don't. so the statement "Before Jesus gave us his Holy Spirit we were not able to live sinless" might be true biblically but not true in reality. For me, it isn't a true statement if it doesn't reflect reality.

My biggest time for sinning is responding to telemarketers. My lack of etiquette shows.

First of all no one can live sinless with out the help of the Holy Spirit. Scripture tells us that, and anyone who says they can is a liar.

Most saints do not see themselves as saints but sinners working out their salvation with fear and trembling before their awesome Holy God who loves them.

We are all human, and of course we sin. We must always build upon this and try to make ourselves better. To me repenting is truly trying to fix the problem, not just saying you are sorry and moving on and doing it again....

Remeber that even though we sin we are covered by Grace.
We are saved and redeemed by our Lord Jesus Christ.

The trick is correct our "habitual" sins. Christ does say the at one point the cup will "runneth over."

As a new creation we are loved and we are saved.
The difference between me and my "neighbor" is Christ.

I pray that we do not allow our sins to keep us from moving forward for the glory of God.

Edouard.
May God fill us with the Holy Spirit and may our tongues be on fire with His word. Amen.

Sin is entangling us everyday and when we live the life that is going to be fully honoring to Him and dedicated the His time-frame, we will then have a much easier time with overcoming the sin that so easily entangels us. (Hebrews 12:1-2) The Lord's strength and consistant love in our lives especially mine, is what pulls through in the end and opens my eyes to the things that are occuring all around me!

Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.

Those are nice comforting words, but are nothing but a panacea. Each and every one of you should realize that someone who knows God would not sin. If you deliberately commit sin you either don’t know God or you are going to Hell.

The Holy Spirit had man put into the written Word of God an incident of two people who knew God and sinned. That showed just what happens to people who know God and then deliberately sin.
