I am a chef, a wannabe scientist and a plant geek so this concept blew me away. I had started the book about 3 times but had been sidetracked for various things. I know I will be reading the book for sure after watching this doc.

The wording of the trailer implied that plants have been deliberately evolving to meet our desires... a common misconception of how evolution occurs. I don't think the implication was deliberate, but a result of the poetic narration. Very cool concept though.

I'm sorry, but after that Twilight Zone episode To Serve Man, I'll withhold my opinion about plants being so amicable.

I read this book for my botany class, it's excellent. I'm interested in reading his next book, 'The Omnivore's Dilemma'
