Overcomer Dear Friends, I never have posted this on Christian Forums before, but now I can, and that is a huge victory for me. As a little girl, I was sexually abused by my father, for a few years I believe. Bitterness ate me up inside, and I was a cutter for over 6 years until I went into Teen Challenge... Jesus brought life to my dead soul. I did something called "Committed to Freedom." for survivors of sexual abuse. I wrote a lot of letters to my father at this time, and at the end, I burned them with a lighter, and buried them in the ground, along with my stuffed animal I had since I was six years old, tearing him to pieces and throwing it in the ground to bury it once and for all... It has taken me so long and so many tears, but I can finally say first of all, I have forgiven him. With a red pen, I wrote "forgiven" on a certificate of debt with his name on it, and wrote paid in full... and now the few times those memories do come up, I remember this, and laugh in Satan's face, saying, "Ha, thanks for reminding me of that Satan, but I have forgiven him of that..." Because you see, forgiveness isn't for the offender, but it is for my freedom... I was trapped... I was trapped. but not now... I am free.... I have so much peace inside, and all I do is pray for my father. I don't know if he is dead or alive, but I pray that he will one day receive the peace I have...
and I can say that finally, I am alive again. My life is in Christ... I no longer feel worthless. I can shower now, and not be terrified. I put on makeup and deoderant on every single day! and I am not afraid anymore to be happy.
Through God I can really say, yes, I have overcome!
Praise God I am free.
Bless you, sisters in Christ especially.
Shara

"I can do all things through Him who strengthens me." Philippians 4:13 Through Teen Challenge, God delivered me from self-injury and depression, and taught me how to forgive my father for the sexual abuse in my past. Jesus saved my life! There is hope!
