Coming back to 2001 A Space Odyssey; I believe that it was one of the most important motion pictures of the modern era and it heralded modern space exploration with precision timing for its public exposure. Unfortunately it was written by the atheist Arthur C. Clarke and directed by the Jewish atheist Stanley Kubrick. They both had a definite philosophy/world view that they wanted to promote in the film.

This statement which I read 40 yrs after I watched 2001 for the first time revived a memory I had of viewing the movie with an agnostic friend. After the movie I told him, "I think I get it. The monolith was 'god'." He nodded his head and said, "Interesting that you would say that."
Near the end of the movie, the hero-astronaut, Dave Bowman takes his tiny space-pod to investigate the monolith he discovered floating in orbit around Jupiter and when he attempts to land his last words to Mission Control on planet earth were, "My god, it's full of stars"
So the 'god-like' creatures who dwelt inside the monolith sucked his tiny spacecraft inside the oblong shaped object and Bowman (& the audience!) experienced what seemed like a 20 minute drug trip. He was transferred into another dimension where time, space, and matter could change momentarily.
Totally bewildered by this development, Bowman & his pod-craft are taken into this exquistely beautiful, large white room. He hasn't a clue as to what is happening to him. But there he stays until his death whereupon the monolith once again appears to him...this time at the foot of his bed.
In a highly dramatic but totally mystifying moment for most viewers, Bowman is transformed into the 'star-child'...the next stage of man's evolution has been 'achieved'.
Clarke and Kubrick's dream. Replace the God of the Bible with a 'god' of their own choosing. The monolith, the star child, and the planet Jupiter were all accorded a sort of deity in the movies and books 2001 & 2010. Now does it make sense that Jupiter was named 'Lucifer' at the end of Clarke's sequel (2010)? At bottom line, atheists like Clarke and Kubrick (& many of their persuasion) can tolerate the idea of a 'god'...as long as it is not Almighty God, the Creator of the heavens and the earth nor the Lord Jesus Christ of the Bible.
But Kubrick never saw the year of his dream. He died on the 66th day of 1999, exactly 666 days before Jan. 1, 2001. I found that incredibly ironic.
I will reveal just how much of a tool of the devil he was in a coming post.

I definitely agree with you about the strong occult undertones in music, movies and other pop culture. I think this is exacerbated by the pervasiveness of drug use within popular culture - as is later in Revelation:
Revelation 9:20-21
20 The rest of mankind that were not killed by these plagues still did not repent of the work of their hands; they did not stop worshiping demons, and idols of gold, silver, bronze, stone and wood—idols that cannot see or hear or walk. 21 Nor did they repent of their murders, their magic arts, their sexual immorality or their thefts.
The key thing here is that the greek word is Pharmakia - a very obvious root word relating to drug use. Also, use of drugs in both modern and ancient divination/sorcery is well known. Somehow, modern western culture has managed to divorce the two concepts - drug use and sorcery, but they are linked in the scripture.
Both the pop culture iconography that you're describing and the prevalent use of drugs in many cultures is what I believe is referred to in Revelation as "magic arts" or "Pharmakia" - and it is something that people will not put down willingly, as shown in Revelation.
I remember watching the movie at a theater that had several dozen hippies on the first few rows who, when Bowman descended into the 'star gate' (monolith) they all started dropping acid to enhance the effect of the spectacular light show. I was troubled by that. I had never seen such a thing before.
I don't know what your thinking is in quoting Rev. 2:24, but since there can be no contradictions in God's Word then since we are admonished to expose the works of darkness and not be involved in occult things, that verse can only be a warning against the involvement of the believers in occult things. We are clearly told to not be 'ignorant of Satan's devices' and we cannot warn our brethren against evil things if we don't even know what they are to begin with.
I expose such things so God's children will know enough to stay way from the dark arts altogether.
