Copts attacked in Deir Mawas - Upper Egypt- for renovating a church tower

On the evening of Tuesday October 27, 2009, a group of Muslims attacked St. George Coptic Church as well as some houses, shops and cars in the village "Albderman" in Elmenia province in Upper Egypt.
The attacks by the Muslim mob occurred in an attempt to stop the restoration work to a beacon of the church, for which the official permit of restoration was already procured by the Church.

I post these as a reminder to pray for our brothers and sisters facing persecution around the world, as well as to make those of us who live in countries where there is religious freedom thankful for the Lord's blessing.

I hope none of you are currently facing this kind of persecution in Egypt (those that live there I mean). This is just so saddening.

I'm not an Orthodox or a Coptic (though I find the Coptic Egyptian language fascinating), but it's always a tragedy to see our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ persecuted.

God loves the Copts, persecutions maybe a sign that these christians are on the right track. But it is always hard and very difficult, only a strong people like the copts could endure this. We are proud of you, for enduring persecutions on His behalf.

May God bless the Coptic people and keep them safe, prosperous and strenghten them at time of trouble.
