I strongly dislike Christmas (which includes Santa). However...I wouldn't focus on Santa too much because Christians should have nothing to do with Christmas. It is funny when I see Fox New running headlines (and you'll see them leading up to Christmas) regarding how Christ is being taken out of Christmas. You know the line. Well...I'll let you in on a little secret: not only was Yeshua not born anywhere near December 25th, but Christmas has its roots in Paganism (as does most of the Christian traditions). A small amount of research will land you on that much. Christmas is a celebration of Capitalism and has absolutely nothing to do with God and/or the Spirit.

OK I am not quite as anti-Santa as the title makes me sound, but I think most Christians would agree that he has, in a way, stolen our Christmas.
Not only is he one of the main agents of commercialization of our religious holiday but he is a flat out lie! Is it really OK to lie to children and only later revel your betrayal? furthermore there is a big discrepancy between the Santa gift giving algorithm and reality. the fact is the presents the kids receive have nothing to do with if they were good or not, but rather on their parents finances. This leads to the kids feeling slighted, and rightly so.
Than there is the fact that by borrowing themes from christianity, Santa makes Christianity look like a childs fairy tale!!!
for example the phrase, "if you believe in Christ you will receive eternal life" looks like the Santa related phrase, " If you believe in Santa than you will receive presents this year"
The whole thing makes the doctrine of belief in God look foolish!
Feel free to add your own anti-Santa thought on to my Anti Santa thread!
DOWN WITH SANTA!!!.................................................and God Bless
well said, from clues in the bible we can guess his birth was no later than october.(after that the shepards woulden't be grazing there sheep) there are some people who beleive he was born on the feast of trumpets on sept 29
Fighting back has only made you part of the problem, like the people that want to change Church by not going. It's apathetic...

I tried Asantaism for a while but my faith just wasn´t strong enough.

Why I call myself a „non-believer“ or „atheist“:
I can´t relate to any of the god concepts I´m familiar with so far.
Either I´m not convinced by the concept, or
– although not having a problem with the worldview itself -
I see no reason to call one of its elements „God“:
There are already more precise, more common, less loaded and less likely to be misunderstood terms for these elements.
E.g. I prefer to call nature „nature“, the universe „universe“ and everything „everything“.

of course.
However I think Santa's a fun idea. And I also think that teh over-commercialism of varioius holidays kinda do kill them.

Courage is the price that life exacts for granting peace. The soul that knows it not, knows no release from little things; Knows not the livid loneliness of fear, nor mountain hights where bitter joy can hear the sound of wings. How can life grant us boon of living, compensate for dull gray ugliness and pregnant hate unless we dare the soul's dominion? Each time we make a choice, we pay with courage to behold restless day, and count it fair.
Amelia Earhart
