Hang in there, len - you're not alone by any stretch. Despite the existence of a small handful of contrarians who seem to take delight in tearing down and disparaging the beliefs and sensibilities of others, regardless what those beliefs may be, most on CF *do* feel as you do and are or would be utterly outraged as well by this sort of beyond-the-pale, overt sacrilege.
I'm as confused as you are and unsure why the response in this particular thread has been as it has - the sacrilege of doing what this person did - and on TV at that - is altogether too obvious.
Hang in there - Speak the truth - in love. In so doing, you will very likely be ridiculed, marginalized, pooh-poohed, contradicted, and tempted to all manner of hurt, frustration, and anger by the intentionally demoralizing comments of a very few [unnamed] whose views may not (necessarily) represent the norm. Consider such comments a concrete aspect of the spiritual warfare to which you intimited.
But do be careful not to *flame* anyone or question anyone's Christianity on CF - the term has a very broad definition here and it is forbidden by the site rules to attack or question it in any manner and will very likely get reported if you do.

I found the bit utterly disgusting! I too am outraged, but am also glad to say I'm not a subscriber to HBO and never will be. I think HBO is nothing but filth in the first place.
I think we should take a stand against this! I mean if this guy had urinated on a picture of "allah" the muslim community would be outraged and our president would be apologizing for it.
For some people, writing a letter of outrage and disgust is the appropriate way to handle this. Canceling your HBO (if you have it) for others may be the solution. While for others completely ignoring this idiot may be the best remedy. No matter what way we choose to deal with it, we must do it in love. As Christ would have us do. Pray for direction on the way to handle this issue, then when you have your answer, put it into motion!

I agree; in fact, if you read my post, you noticed my statement on that very thing. That being said, I don't think it is the place of the Christian to be the doormat of the unbelieving world either. I think that when Christians stand boldly for Christ we can be a strong witness for Him as well. I am not advocating violence, hatred, or any such thing. I am advocating that Christians who are offended by such images should take action with their wallets and their voices. I don't think God wants us doing a happy dance every time Christ or Christians are mocked, belittled, persecuted, martyred, etc. I think from reading scripture we can see that He wants us to continue preaching His word and standing boldly for Him.
