OBOB "Political Moratorium" and Statement of Faith
The "Political Moratorium" is removed. Without going into a lot of details...I think that it has served its purpose plus I'm very anti-very tailored and specific rules in one forum which are in place for perpetuity. Staff...I have a thread in the CR so send your questions there, pls.
There was a discussion, here, regarding a statement of faith for OBOB like all of the other forums have. The only reason it hasn't been posted is, frankly, the fact that I forgot about it...so blame me.
I've posted the following...as I dropped the ball lemme know if it needs minor tweaks but this was the general outcome of the thread (though I'll make sure the links work):
OBOB Statement of Faith
We reject Satan and all of his works and empty promises. We believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. We believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was born of the Virgin Mary, was crucified, died and was buried, rose from the dead and is now seated at the right hand of the Father We believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting.
The above are our Baptismal promises that we renew every year at the Easter Vigil. As we say at Baptism and at renewal. This is our Faith, this is the Faith of the Church.
We also accept as true that Mary is truly the Mother of God and require all visitors of goodwill to treat with respect all that the Catholic Church teaches as dogma concerning that issue as well as all other proclaimed dogma. You need not agree but we ask that you, in the spirit of the site wide rules, act respectfully toward those beliefs and those who hold them while in OBOB
OBOB is a forum for those Catholics who are in communion with the Holy See in Rome. This communion consists of the Western Church (Latin Rite) as well as approximately two dozen Eastern Catholic Churches, following various Eastern Rites, in union with the Bishop of Rome and who assent to all that the Church teaches as necessary and undeniably true through the Magisterium. The Magisterium, requiring assent, is defined as:
The Pope Ex cathedra
The Pope and Bishops from a council
The Bishops of the world, though dispersed proclaiming in union with the Pope.
Well Tonks you have succeeded I see ... nm then ... You have taken everything that was exclusively Catholic out of the Catholic forum. Everything that made this forum unique you have managed to vanquish.
It is one thing to say this forum is for us, it is another thing to say that posting privileges are reserved for those in communion with the Holy See of Rome. I have no quarrel and never had with RESPECTFUL dialogue taking place in here. However, this means that people understand that the answers given to them in here are given to them by Catholics and that debate is not tolerated as this is not GT. Heck, truth be told, I don't even mind a bit of back and forth I think it is good for all of us and it gives people the latitude to feel at least a little bit free to express the way they are feeling. I know when I was learning about Catholicism I had my shaky times and I put up some guff about things. So I do believe within reason some latitude has to be given in order for people to properly learn because you can't just shut them down all the time.
On the other hand, though, there has to be a clear boundary set so that people know what lines they can and cannot cross over. I think the reason the rules became the way they were to begin with, was because people continually tried to blur the lines of what was acceptable so that the lines had to be so clear. They did not get that way over night. They were a product of problems that had occurred over time.
I don't know now, all I do know is this is not at all what I expected to come back to after my hiatus from CF, and yes this is just my opinion so you my dispense with it as you see fit to do.
Lovingly In Christ
Debi

Rev 21:3 And I heard a great voice from the throne, saying: Behold the tabernacle of God with men: and he will dwell with them. And they shall be his people: and God himself with them shall be their God.
Rev 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes: and death shall be no more. Nor mourning, nor crying, nor sorrow shall be any more, for the former things are passed away.
