"You" can make make them as important as you wish, whether that would fit the Bible was not the question.
If you would like to start giving scripture and your interpretation of them, to see if we are in agreement or not, then do so.

If you would like to start giving scripture and your interpretation of them, to see if we are in agreement or not, then do so. Act 2:38 Peter said to them, "Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Literally, stop going the direction of sin, die to yourself, and be reborn. Goes along with Romans 12:1-2.

We agree on this, now in what manner are we going to stop going in the direction of sin. |

Now that is the question, and where the rubber meets the road.

No - they are NOT commands at all. They are ONLY commands to those who look to beat themselves to a pulp or other people over the head. Commands are instruments of torture.
Paul makes this clear in Romans - not matter how good you get at keeping commands you will fail - the works of 'command keeping' are dead. You are free of the cage. Enjoy the freedom.

We are NOT going in the 'direction of sin' at all.
Sure we stumble, we trip, we make mistakes - but that is what we are doing - making mistakes. Mistakes are acceptable to God - I have that on good authority.
