I assert that the entire Bible is still applicable in principle and concept, and that the concepts behind every single law are still in effect today. I also assert that because of Christ's death and Peter's vision in Acts, some laws are no longer in effect and are fulfilled by Christ's coming. Who will challenge this assertion, and on what grounds?
Hello jaws,
Many people come onto this forum only looking to pick a fight, which most Christians do not want to engage in. The notion that you put forth, in the OP, is nothing new and a concept which most would agree with but it is vague. If you want to point out a certain Mosaic law which may invoke a discussion then do that. You have 613 to choose from.
This is a Christians only section, so if you're looking for an atheist to argue with, you need to find that section.

I'm not looking for atheists or to simply 'pick a fight', a sparring match is far more than a simple fight. Anyone can simply fight. Sparring requires skill and training, anticipating the other's movements and striking at vital points throughout the battle. It also requires discipline and self control to not go too far, and respect and courtesy towards your opponent.
I'm not talking about Mosaic Law, I'm talking about the entire Bible. I assert that morality that is given throughout the entire Bible is not rule-based, but concept-based, thus, to look at the rule without understanding the concept is to misunderstand Christian morals. I'm quite sure more than one user on this forum would disagree with that assertion.

Excuse my error, I assumed that when you said, "and that the concepts behind every single law are still in effect today" that the Mosaic law was part of the equation.

It was never intended to be rule based but the Jews brought that upon themselves, and it is not intended for us Christians. If we exercise the command to love, we shouldn't have to worry about "rules".

Part, not all.

Why isn't it intended for Christians? Doesn't the NT merely reiterate many of the principles behind the rules?

Allow me to relieve you of the undue stress you are placing on yourself.
The Bible is only a 'rulebook' for those who need books of rule.
For a second there I thought you were going to go all Lord of the Rings on me.

If you want to live by rules then be my guest, but when Christians live by the Spirit, it is not rules that we live by. We allow the Holy Spirit to live within us. In doing so, we do what God wishes of us. When we love, we have fulfilled the law.
Romans 13:8 Owe nothing to anyone, except to love one another; for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law. 9 The commandments, "You shall not commit adultery; you shall not kill; you shall not steal; you shall not covet," and whatever other commandment there may be, are summed up in this saying, (namely) "You shall love your neighbor as yourself." 10 Love does no evil to the neighbor; hence, love is the fulfillment of the law.

If we 'live by the Holy Spirit', then why did Jesus, Paul, Peter, and John give commands?

Romans 13:
8 Owe nothing to anyone, except to love one another; for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law.
------------------------------
They were all teaching us to live in the Spirit.
---------------------------------
Romans 8:1 Hence, now there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. 2 For the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus has freed you from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law, weakened by the flesh, was powerless to do, this God has done: by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for the sake of sin, he condemned sin in the flesh, 4 so that the righteous decree of the law might be fulfilled in us, who live not according to the flesh but according to the spirit. 5 For those who live according to the flesh are concerned with the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the spirit with the things of the spirit. 6 The concern of the flesh is death, but the concern of the spirit is life and peace. 7 For the concern of the flesh is hostility toward God; it does not submit to the law of God, nor can it; 8 and those who are in the flesh cannot please God.

Then the commands are still important.
