hi everyone, im working on a project where i pose questions to a religious authority. but the priest at my local church told me to email him but he has yet to respond.
is it cool if i give some of the questions to the chaplans?
1- How does Christianity view the relation between humans and nature and where do we fit?
2- Does mankind have any duties or obligations toward the natural world?
3- Is there a general consensus among Christians as to what actions should be taken towards the environmental crisis?
4- What would you say are the things that separate humans from lower beings?
5- Hypothetically, in the future if science is able to grow organs in host animals like pigs. Does the fact that the pig has a human heart/lungs/liver/eyes growing in it make the pig partially human. Would eating that pigs meat be a form of cannibalism?
I'd also like some info on how long you've been a priest/where you went to seminary school, stats like that to set the paper up.
When is your paper due? The reason I ask is I am the only Chaplain on duty here at the moment and time is hard to come by these days.
I can give you short answers to your questions but detailed ones I do not have time to give.
I am not a priest, I am ordained to the gospel of Jesus Christ, a southern baptists evangelists, preacher and pastor. I went to seminary at Trinity in Indiana.
Short answers:
1) God spoke the universe and everything in it into existance (Gen 1, John 1)
God made man in His image and all other things were made to fill the waters and the land. Man is caretaker and head over all other creatures God made. The creation of nature reveals God's nature in ways that leaves man no excuse in not seeking Him. Our relationship with nature is as a gift to be delighted in, an expression of His love for beauty, complexity, impossibility, and awe. Our relationship with nature draws us to Him.
2) Yes, The natural word is not natural, it's a creation.
3) There is no consensus on enviormental crisis. We worship the creator of the enviorment. However: Christians do not want dirty water, or dirty air any more or less than anyone else.
4) God made man eternal, man will never die.
5) The flesh is flesh, a man is not made of flesh, man is made out of dust and the breath of God. Man will have to decide the moral issues concerning science, but God numbers the days of life on earth, science was invented by God, His will is being done today and tomorrow.
I hope this helps
