This is more than a little disingenuous. According to the CIA stats the US life expectancy is 78.11 years at number 50 on the list, and Macau is 84.36 at number one on the list. The difference is only 6.25 years between number one and number 50. The gap isn't significant.
And Macau has every other nation beat by almost 2 years. So the difference between number 2 on the list and number 50 is just over 4 years. Rather than longing for the British or Canadian system here in the US, Maybe the Brits should ask themselves why, if their system is so great, the average Macau resident lives 5 years longer than they do? Is their system that inferior to the one in Macau? Maybe they should improve their own system before shoving it down our throats.

They need to get organized. Honestly I've heard a lot of good plans come from conservatives on healthcare, and some of them actually border upon universal healthcare.
But they haven't come up with a single solid convincing plan and pushed it.
Nobody's asking for their opinion....least of all Obama. For all his talk during the campaign, he hasn't followed through with any of his promises to make it an open and inclusive process.
I learned of a fantastic idea that is already in use. A group of doctors decided to completely bypass the middle man ie. insurance companies ,etc. and set up a clinic with unlimited doctor visits, virtually all diagnostics including blood work, MRI's, X-ray, etc. minor surgery, PT, Chiropractic, etc. They can provide 80% of all patient needs. The cost?
A mere $79 per month! I pay nearly $400 for just myself and I have a $750 deductible on diagnostics, plus a limited number of office visits for exams, PT, Chrio. for a co-pay of $30 a pop.
So instead of the government getting involved, why not let the private sector which is ten times more inovative, create solutions and a thousand times more efficient, run them?

It is contestable if you take into account demographic factors. In fact, our people live longer. Take your average white farmer from Wisconsin and compare him to a white farmer in Europe, we live longer. However, if you throw minorities and illegal immigrants into our statistics, then our life expectancy takes a hit. We also have more "bad habits" i.e. poor diet, drugs, smoking, shooting one another in gang/drug violence than other comparable countries. Health Care system can't save someone after they have abused their bodies for most of their lives.
Ah, there's the Stormfront moment for ya.
You don't think other countries have crime, smoking, and drug problems? Drugs are legal in the Netherlands, and they rank 20 steps above us in life expectancy.
As far as smoking, yes, it's an issue, but we're far from the top of the list in terms of the percentage of our population that smokes:
So, again, the "AMERICA IS TEH BESTEST!!!1!!1" approach to discussing this issue just doesn't hold up. You can't blame black people, Mexicans, smokers, drugs, and so on. While smoking and illicit drug use are certainly not helpful, the statistics show other nations, too, suffer these ills, and many to a greater extent than America.
We're right back to square one: We Americans pay far more, and get significantly less, for health care than other nations, including many with socialized systems. You've done nothing to refute that.

Finally, someone actually provides numbers and evidence.
Does this group have a Web site one could look at?

Macau is actually a city-state with a disproportionately wealthy population. It's also technically part of China, though it enjoys a significant degree of autonomy from Beijing. And there's this part:
This is not the website for the plan since it is NOT insurance. Apparently the doctor is having to fight the state Ins. Commissioner who wants to either shut it down or force the doctor to charge more for certain procedures. My guess is that ins. companies are pressuring the State to stop the guy because he's stepping on their turf. But here's a doc. who is just trying to help uninsured people for a minimal price by coming up with a plan that allows him to treat these people and still stay in business. He says that by not having to devote a lot of time and money to claim forms and insurance billing, he's able to offer the plan.

I agree that the State trying to shut this guy down is wrong. Clearly he's come up with a new "product" that doesn't fit into the existing regulatory scheme, and so said scheme needs to be altered so there's a niche for this guy. The State calls this just another insurance plan, but calling a tail a leg does not make the name fit. If I were NY governor, I'd be making some phone calls and twisting some arms to get that situation straightened out.

The Congressional Budget Office said on Wednesday that an alternative health care bill put forward by House Republicans would have little impact in extending health benefits to the roughly 30 million uninsured Americans, but would reduce average insurance premium costs for people who have coverage.
The Republican bill, which has no chance of passage, would extend insurance coverage to about 3 million people by 2019, and would leave about 52 million people uninsured, the budget office said, meaning the proportion of non-elderly Americans with coverage would remain about the same as now, at roughly 83 percent.
The budget office has said that the Democrats’ health care proposal would extend coverage to 36 million people, meaning that 96 percent of legal residents would have health benefits. The Democrats’ bill would cost $1.1 trillion, with the costs more than covered by revenues from new taxes or cuts in government spending, particularly on Medicare.
House Republicans, including their leader, Representative John A. Boehner of Ohio, have said that they did not intend for their legislation to expand insurance coverage, because they viewed that goal as unaffordable. Instead, they said the bill was tailored narrowly to reduce costs.
According to the report by nonpartisan budget office, the Republican bill would reduce future federal deficits by $68 billion over 10 years, compared to a reduction of $104 billion by the House Democrats’ legislation.
The GOP just isn't serious about healthcare reform at all. They hate the fact that the Dems forced them to actually address an issue other then legislating benefits for the hands that feed them.

"Let the local communities decide how to pay the cost. They could decide on a local tax, just as an example.
Some will say that poor communities could not afford good schools.
Wake UP people! That's the idea, people would have good reason to build a better community." -a poster here.

Repubs realize if the Dems pull this off, Obama gets re-elected and they only gain 5-10 seats next year, they will have lost literally half of their voting base by 2014. Thus, they must resort to fear tactics as much as possible to scare people in order to stall the inevitable.
