It does seem sometimes that the Republican plan is to simply shout 'Socialism!' at every Democratic proposal.
Well every Democratic plan is socialistic to some degree. Some proposals are more socialistic than others.

The word 'Socialism' is such an overused buzzword these days that I doubt many people even understand the meaning anymore.
As I said: it's nothing more than a cheap and easy political trump card. It's much easier to simply stamp the label of 'Socialism!' on one's opponents ideas than discuss the pros and cons of those ideas.

Show me a Democratic Plan that will actually DECREASE the role of government in healthcare whether that is regulating it or paying for it outright. All of the Democratic plans are socialistic.

Despite the rantings of Glenn Beck, the economic scale does not go from anarchy to socialism. Regulation that sets limits on operation is not socialistic. It's simply law.

When you start instituting price controls and availablity of services, it does become socialistic. When you begin to cover people via some sort of government plan, you are moving towards socialism. You cannot say with a straight face the Democrats favor free market principles when it comes to health care.

What type of law? The type that moves toward the free market or toward socialized medicine?
Why is the left so reluctant to use the word socialism or socialized medicine anyway? Every other western country that has socialized medicine calls it socialized medicine, why dont those who want to see it here call it what it is? If people are ashamed of socialism then maybe they shouldnt advocate it.

The Republican plan is not a plan per se, but a plan to allow market forces to work in health care once again. That will be the only way to reign in costs. People don't see the actual cost of their healthcare so they have no incentive to look for the "best price". Health care providers know insurers are basically stuck paying whatever they charge so providers have no incentive to become more efficient/lower costs. It ends up being a lose/lose situation. The way to really screw things up is to leave the system we have now in place and try to force price controls-that will backfire and have other negative consequences.
jameswrigt]ht3.....let us "the healthcare industry" use the market to find cost savings is exactly what they told the Clinton's when they tried to reform healthcare, and as you see costs have gone way way to the upper end.
