Quick question, and something I'm not entirely sure of, how should I pray?
I know it sounds a bit daft, but let me explain where I'm coming from. As a former Catholic, the Our Father and Hail Mary were drilled into me fist of the dragon style as a kid. Later on, having left the Catholic Church, going through a bit of a dark period where I got into stuff like Wicca, voudun and Crowley, i came back to the faith.
When I hear people pray now at my new church, they never say the Lords Prayer, they just seem to make it up as they go along. Sometimes they can go for a good few minutes. Is this OK? are we supposed to pray like this?
Also, how can I tell if I'm doing it right? A lot of people I speak to tell me about hearing a quiet voice talking back to them, yet when I pray, nothing. No answer to prayer, no voice talking back, am I doing it wrong? |

When I talk to my dad I just talk to him, that's what prayer is, it's a conversation with your Father.....
Just talk to Him. Try it.

Receiving the spirit of God is a miracle, it's a gift given to those that have been allowed to see their lost condition and they cry out to the Lord: Romans 10:9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. |
