While I do agree some cults are abusive; the whole "Satanic cult" panic was largely a myth that has be debunked.
I'm not aware of any "panic" about it, but I do know that there are still plenty of cults out there, and I know people who have been abused by them. Horrific stuff that's too graphic to post here. It's easier to pretend it doesn't go on, I know. But the fact remains that it does. Should we freak out or become fearful that "they're coming for us next"? Of course not. Nothing like that. But we also should not ignore that these things do go on in the world and have compassion for the victims.

I love halloween. It was a time that brought the whole neighbour together. Although my family is christian they never saw it as evil. When I have kids I look foward to ejoying it with them.

I love Halloween too. When I first became a Christian people warned against the holiday, but you know, it's just plain old fun. AND I like horror movies too.

I'm not against dressing up as as positive things (not things typically associated with halloween). I'll even go as far as to give treats when people come kocking because I'm trying to teach my son about giving. Thats about as far as my personal concience will let me go with it.
I don't love or hate halloween, but I honestly wouldn't mind if the day just came and went like any other day.

I do not ignore the existence of cults and I support full action against them; for instance the recent raids against Tony Alamo's cult. However the claim that Satanic cults are engaging in some organized giant conspiracy and are sacrificing tens of thousands of children are at the least exaggerated. While unfortunately I can't post links I would like you to if you'd like go to the "Satanic Abuse" article in Wikipedia.
