I know that Muslims believe in Jesus and that he is mentioned in the Qur'an but he is not seen as the messiah or son of God. I'm stuck on the immaculate conception part, but that is a whole other ball game...
I think the person was either trying to get a rise out of you or was just terribly informed and had, probably has still no idea what he was saying.
PLease don't take this next line as inflammatory, so you from your comment you have met one muslim, does that mean all muslims are therefore bad referring back to the original thread name?
Thank you
The immaculate conception thing is probably more along the lines of a cross between test tube baby and artificial incemination. I hope that helps you understand it is not such a weird thing.
I know a few Muslims and thank God they are bad Muslims because they don't know their Koran. If they did they would have to make war on all Christians and Jews unless the Jews and christians converted to Islam as the Koran commands.

I dont see you going forth and making disciples of all nations, either.

Thanks for your interpretation of the immaculate conception story. Maybe it requires more faith on my behalf to fully understand it.
Maybe one day you'll meet some "good" Muslims.

please excuse my ignorance, but can you enlighten me (and others) by what you mean by the 7th head of the beast comment? I'm glad you've at least added in "But there are some good ones I suppose" to balance up your stance.

Surah 109:1-6
"Say: O disbelievers! I worship not that which you worship, Nor you worship that which I worship. And I shall not worship that which you worship, Nor will you worship that which I worship. Unto you your religion and unto me my religion"
So, what part of that Surah explains to me that we are to forcibly convert anyone to Islam?

The 7th head of the beast is to trample Jerusalem for 1260 years. That is how long Muslims ruled Jerusalem. The time is up, but Muslims want to rule Jerusalem again which is not going to happen. But they try in the battle known as the Battle of Ar Mageddon:
"And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs coming out of the mouth of the dragon, out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. For they are spirits of demons, performing signs, which go out to the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.
And they gathered them together to the place called in Hebrew, Ar Mageddon." (Rev. 16:12-14,16)
Ar Mageddon means city of the sanctuary, or Jerusalem.

Do you have a source for this? And I mean in addition to Revelations, as that book in the Bible can be interpreted MANY different ways.
The 7 headed beast is only found in the Revelation, which is given to us directly by Jesus.

Quite a contradiction
"Believers, take neither Jews nor Christians for your friends." (Surah 5:51)
"Slay them wherever you find them...Idolatry is worse than carnage...Fight against them until idolatry is no more and God's religion reigns supreme." (Surah 2:190-)
"Make war on them until idolatry shall cease and God's religion shall reign supreme." (Surah 8:36-)
"...make war on the leaders of unbelief...Make war on them: God will chastise them at your hands and humble them. He will grant you victory over them..." (Surah 9:12-)
"Fight against such as those to whom the Scriptures were given [Jews and Christians]...until they pay tribute out of hand and are utterly subdued." (Surah 9:27-)
"Prophet make war on the unbelievers and the hypocrites and deal rigorously with them. Hell shall be their home." (Surah 9:73) "Believers, make war on the infidels who dwell around you. Deal firmly with them." (Surah 9:121-)

here is my stance... agree or disagree, that is your call.
I've always felt it strange to use scripture or passages from either the bible or qur'an or torah to explain a point prove that one is better than the other/more peaceful than the other etc etc... interpretation and translations will always skew a point one direction. Someone can find lines and phrases that are peaceful and whilst others can find ones that are aggressive.
However, even though i find it strange, i do understand that some lines and situations need certain passages to make the point.
Eye witness accounts, personal opinions, an even acceptance or non-prejudicial stance of both sides and well constructed points would persuade me more than someone regurgitating lines. If people end up quoting line after line against each other, it becomes a cut and paste war.
I haven't come across any Muslim yet that has been aggressive towards any religion whether they're from Asian or Middle Eastern background. I have been involved in the Malaysian/Indonesian/Singaporean/Palestinian/Pakistani/Turkish/UAE communities, who are heavily Islamic, in Melbourne with Music/Movie/General promotional festivals, family events, school programs and haven't come across anyone with ill feelings towards others of different religion. Just to paint a bit of a picture, I tend to stick out in these groups when i am around, seeing i'm 6'1, red hair, pale white skin and lanky!
But hey, that's just my personal experience through involvement and opinion...
