We are baptised by the Holy Spirit because we believed in Christ. He promised to send us the Comforter. That is our Baptism.

Edouard is on a distinguished road
To follow the example of Christ was to follow His teachings on Baptism.
Someone here asked to be shown someone that asked for forgiveness and was baptized after Christ was crucified.

My dear Brother/Sister. The book of Acts is a recording of the Apostles following Christ's death.

Those considering baptism - Please reaad Acts chapter II.
This is the day of the pentecost where they preached in tongues to all people.

Edouard.
the decision to be immersed is one wanting to display your love for God and obedience.

We are saved by grace, justified by Faith.
Faith without works is dead.
Christ said If you love me you will obey me. (all his teachings - not the ones we choose).

The Holy Spirit works through the water. Baptism has nothing to do with water alone, it has to do with the work of the Holy Spirit through that water. When John baptized, he was using only water. That is why we find a difference in the scriptures between the early and later baptisms.

People will say that baptism is just a profession of faith. However, the baptism of Jesus was a great event. When he was baptized, scripture says, "And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him" (Mark 1:10)

Regardless of what you believe, being a Christian is not just about you and God. It is about being part of the Body of Christ, which includes all believers. The public celebration of baptism recognizes that fact.
