Hi i have an idea to write a book that has inspiring stories of how people found the light of jesus christ.
i was raised a christian but began to have my doubts in my late teens but i recently began to read the bible more and other peoples stories of how religion helped them and now im happy and satisified to be a christian. To be honest though i think the way the bible is presented as factual and accurate it may be it does make for a difficult read or new comers. The bible should not need to be translated ,it should be written in clear text in a language that anybody that picks it up can easily understand,so id like to write a book with several examples of how christ helped them directly and how they found christ. By having to translate so many verses it leaves the bible open to misinterpretation and may confuse people of its true meaning. Just like to ask people their advice on the matter.Would anybody like to share there experiances and stories or would anybody be able to reccomend where i could go to find peoples stories of how the found christ?
Thanks
Make sure that you collect responses with permission, and give proper acknowledgements -- whether they want to remain anonymous, or have citation documented.
You will find that publishers do not consider this a highly marketable book concept, so do not be discouraged if they do not choose to invest in it -- as a book publication is a large investment in terms of proper marketing and production.
Low profit does not imply low need for the book, however. If you see this was a need in your life, then it is likely to be a current need in others' lives. And there is an easy way that you can take this on.
Print-on-demand companies like Lulu will apply the printing costs to the end user. You can publish a book almost for free, and the expense is charged to the book purchasers. No warehousing is needed -- they print as people order. It is rare to get large numbers of orders without good advertising, but I don't think you're going for numbers -- I think you saw a ministry need, and wanted to address it. And that is worth your time.
Also, it sounds like you are talking about two very diverse topics: testimonies and scripture reading. Make sure you keep your focus on testimonies. If you add any commentary about the Bible being difficult to read, put it in your author preface.
