Reps: 56,106,217,694,024,832 (power: 56,106,217,694,035) | | | Franken's First Ammendment! Congratulations Franken! I can't help but think there is going to be some controversy surrounding this. Schadenfreude. | 30 Senators Disagree With Al Franken That Rape Is A Crime
Franken wants gang rape victims to be able to charge people with a crime. Nothing personal to those who disagree with this sentiment, but that seems pretty logical.
So I'm a little disturbed that senators (30 of them) would bother to set up road blocks to stop that from happenning.
I'm also a little disturbed that ALL of the senators were Republican. Hmm.... is that just a mighty coincidence they all belong to the same party?
To be honest, there WERE 10 Republicans who supported Franken... but still ALL people who are "pro-consequence free rape" were republicans. http://thinkprogress.org/2009/10/07/...ken-amendment/
I would suggest watching the Daily Show from Oct 14 (clip 2). Here is the Canada one: The Daily Show with Jon Stewart Senate - Political News - FOXNews.com
Hmm.... I see nothing about this on fox.

Otherwise, they use CSPAN footage.
So.... that means Halliburton employees should be permitted to rape their coworkers?

For the record, I personally will never work for a company that has that rule in place, no matter how bad the economy gets, because of stories like this.
I need to see Franken's entire bill. I haven't yet. I'm trying to give my fellow republicans the benefit of the doubt there because I know they're not trying to say that rape isn't a crime or anything like that. But their method is flawed. Very flawed.
So I gotta get more information on this. And it's not easy to find.

No one is saying rape is fine. The trouble is you have an idiot who puts forth an amendment to scrap an idiotic clause in a contract that is then voted against by some idiots who are more interested in looking good for their special interests than they are in looking good for the public. Idiots.

Y'know, I have to come back and edit. I think it's sad commentary. This event actually happened over a week ago. The news hit Oct. 7 and nobody notices. But as soon as John Stewart opens his mouth and suddenly it's worthy of notice. Pretty sad. I have to note, the politics forum was on the ball. But some people actually get their news from sources like Stewart, Letterman, etc.

American News doesn't deserve more of my attention than a comedy show. I have Canadian and other international news programs where I can get great news.
No offense intended. I firmly believe you'd feel about the same way about Canada and be in the right.

Please. I'd like to see Glen Beck get elected to the US senate. There are a large number of Minnesotans who would disagree with you.
