However, it seems that most have failed to read further on in the book.
For if you had, you would learn that while we do receive these, what are we going to do with them?
"The four and twenty elders fall down before him that sat on the throne, and worship him that liveth for ever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying, Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created." -Rev. 4:10-11 (KJV)
If the 24 elders do this, we would do the same. They are not ours, they are His!
God Bless
Till all are one.
Amen! |

Hey, thanks DeacanDean for finding that Scripture.
I actually asked this question about rewards in the 'Ask a Chaplin' and one said we would throw the crowns at Jesus' feet, but I did not see any Scripture to back it up. Now, that I see scripture it makes better sense. |

I do not believe this passage speaks of rewarding all Christians exhaustively. However, I see no reason to limit the rewarding of kingdom workers (church builders) to preachers. There are a great many saints who labor long for the Lord, yet have not been called to serve in the pastoral role. Provided their efforts are gospel oriented, and serve to build the church, I see no reason to disclude them. Do you disagree?
No I wouldn't disagree. I do believe it is speaking of those who build up the church on the foundation of Christ as ou say. I do not believe it is speaking of all believers either. What I do disagree with is those who use this passage as a proof text for differing rewards in Heaven. All believers get everything. Everything that Christ earned which is all of it. |

I agree, especially here on earth we reap what we sow, but in heaven we are all one. Meaning what's mine is yours and hopefully you would share with me as well.
I just don't buy into this concept of one having more than another in heaven. I could very well be wrong though. |

Sounds like a lot of religious piety nonsense to me...written for the praise of men and not God.
OH well...some people are just made that way. |

I am afraid that those who look for pleasures and things in Heaven will be disappointed. Those who want to go to heaven because of the things there would not like it because it will be an eternal worship service. Those who don't want to worship Him now won't like it when it lasts for eternity. Christ is what makes Heaven Heaven. As long as He is there I don't care if the streets are dirt and we live in shacks. |

That's what I was thinking as well. Christ is our reward, and there is absolutely no greater reward.

God created us to have life...and saved us to have life more abundantly.
I would think that Heaven is a place where we will more fully and completely than ever before...
a non-stop church service of watching others lecture and sing is not my idea of a good time...and I don't think it will be God's idea of a good time either. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | | | |
