Is there anyone out there who cares about this anymore?
I just would like to know if there are any conservatives out there (I'm more aiming at men right now) who actually care about the verse in the New Testament from Jesus that a man looking at another woman with lust is committing adultery in his heart.
(note: when I say this, I am referring to the notion of knowing it's a sin, yet struggling with it. Some guys fall into this category, and I'm not angry about that)
the category I get angry with is those who think that nothing is wrong with say, watching porn or viewing men's magazines for pleasure and that it's perfectly fine with it, even if they have girlfriends or wives I had created a thread off this secular forum and unwittingly led to this discussion even though it was not my original intent, and it is getting me so angry to see the indifference to this, and I think to myself, have people simply abandoned the notion that Jesus preached to us about all this? does anyone care that maybe adultery "in the heart" is going on? do I have to basically assume that all men I meet in this world are going to have a secular attitude about this, or what? or that it's the fault of women being "insecure" that they can't take it? (I hate when they blame the women's insecurity for it though, sorry, it's a pet peeve of mine)

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.
You are correct in your anger..doesn't help though when women dress as provocatively as they do~~even have it in my local congregation..not excusing poor behavior on our part.
Looking at Porn is a sin, but a man looking at a beautiful woman is not sin unless the guy takes it step further into thinking of sex with her.

I struggle with this sin daily. In fact, it's still a habitual sin I struggle with, but I pray God will grant me repentance concerning this. What you described about men is sinful. Lust in the heart is a sin that needs to be repented of. And just as Hezekiah and Israel repented of the pride in their hearts, so must we men repent of the lust in our hearts. Don't forget, Peter rebuked Simon the sorcerer for the sin that was in his heart at well and told him to repent of it (the sin in his heart) and pray that God may forgive him of it...

why not live a life of sin and repent after?? well for one you don't know when you will stand before God and if you are standing before God then it is to late to repent..
It's definitely sinful. As porn and such becomes more and more accepted and even encouraged by society at large (i.e. "Friends") and become more and more available, often for free, you will see more and more Christian men fall into this sin.
I have a friend who equates porn in our day with the pagan temple worship with prostitutes and such that we see in the OT. Same sin, different technology.
I think you'll find more guys in conservative Christian circles who will say it's a sin that they struggle with rather than those who say it's just fine.

This is an issue where I think we need to have a balanced, and scriptural view point.
Obviously, from the conservative biblical stand point there is no justification for porn, or allowing lust to rule you, and shape your heart.
However, I think Christian guys need to remember, and maybe Christian women too.. that this area also deals with a biological imperative that men are programmed with.
This is an issue that generates a lot of shame and guilt for many Christian men. Often times they feel like complete failures as men of faith because they struggle with this issue.
I'm not saying we shouldn't struggle for righteousness and purity, but we should realize that virtually every Christian man who has ever lived has had the same struggle, and the reality is that probably the vast majority of them have had the same failures.
Society does us no favors on this issue because it tries to constantly feed lust, and to get us to feed our lusts. The more you feed it, the worse it gets and the more it controls and corrupts your heart.
I think sometimes, though, Christian women expect Christian men not to be men.
One of my best friends was an 8th grade teacher at our church's school and he once brought in parents of twin girls who were dressing far too provocatively for the classroom. The parents' response? They called him a pervert and said that he had no business "checking out [their] daughters". At this point in time, my best friend knew he was on the verge of resigning anyway, so he told the parents straight out "it's rather hard to NOT check it out when they're hanging it out for the world to see!" Note that he never said he had checked them out, all he said was that their clothes didn't really meet the expectations of the dress code and that they needed to dress more conservatively.
However, the more women are objectified by the media, be it Playboy or HBO or whatever, the more women are going to dress in a way that draws eyes. And there's a big difference between "that's an attractive female" and "I'd tap that in a moment"...I consider the first to be admiring God's creation and the second to be lust.
I do think men struggle with this and I do think women play a pretty big role in it.

Looking at porn is a sin indeed!! One either believes the bible or they don't-this is by their actions!

thanks guys for your insight, it seems to be a multifaceted issue. I hope I didn't seem to make it appear one-sided, I was just expressing an issue
