Right now, special interests have more influence over our political system than regular folks because of our broken campaign finance laws. These special interests pump millions of dollars into congressional campaigns each cycle, and as a result, they block real change on issue after issue.
Here at Change Congress, we believe that politicians should work for the people, not special interests. But it’s not enough to push politicians to stay out of the system of corruption—we have to reform the system itself. That’s why we support a hybrid of small-dollar donations and public financing, to keep big money out of politics.

I'm dead serious on the importance of this issue. (just by watching that 40 minute presentation). There's a shorter video on the website
Changing Congress
It's one important step towards stopping corruption and renovating government.
It's one important step towards cleaning the bias out bills and laws formed in congress.
It's one important step towards expediting the issues in congress that get dragged around forever because of lobbyists etc. |

Unfortunately it seems that the US is one of the worst. What I am reading, watching and hearing is bringing me to the conclusion that the USA, and many so-called 'democracies' are actually controlled, not by their political process and elected government officials, but indirectly by massively powerful corporate interests.
So bad is this becoming that I believe there will ultimately either be a general uprising of the populace to cleanse the political world of this influence, or we will collectively become slaves of a global fascist state. The danger is real, and present, and cannot be ignored.
Here in Australia there is a similar movement to deal with the issue of secret contributions and corporate influence through lobbyists.
Not that this is his core subject, but I totally disagree with his position on global warming. I believe that global warming is an agenda of elites also. It's just not as obvious to see. It's a pity that Al Gore is his hero. I can't think of many people I disagree with more than Al Gore - not because of the sentiments he expresses, but because of the shallowness of his arguments.

It's just a really good idea
