I begin to wonder what percentage of intelligent people throughout the world would need to disagree with the basic tenets of conservatism before a conservative thinker would begin to have the slimmest doubt about his theories.
This is what the rest of the world thinks about Obama. The whole world, and most of America, is wrong and conservatives are right. Kind of arrogant, no? Ot maybe insane?
Basically the entire civilized, relatively wealthy world believes that healthcare is a basic human right, and has made sure that people aren't denied that right. Conservatives, not so much.
When anyone outside of the US views the "enhanced interrogation" techniques of the Bush administration, they view them as obviously being torture. Conservatives seem to think they are just an extreme and beautiful expression of man's love for his country.
Anyone notice a pattern? But then I suppose that's not terribly surprising, given that a fundamental of conservatism is the rejection of new or different viewpoints.

Off topic. If you want to rant and rave about whatever it is you're ranting about - start your own thread.

Arrogant? Insane? How about "Off topic?" (#2)

Off topic #4. Rambling degenerating to utter confusion.

Pattern? Sure - Helter Skelter - and pointlessly off topic!

The biggest news in the 2 weeks between BO's inauguration and BO's nomination for this "peace" prize was Rush Limbaugh's comment about wanting BO's policies to fail. All BO and his minions did prior to his nomination was attempt to thrash Rush for that comment (purposely mis-interpreting it btw for political gain).
So as irony would have it, BO owes Bush for his presidency and now Rush for his peace prize.
And we owe the IOC and the Nobel Prize committee for making BO a complete laughingstock in the world's eyes. It is sad his followers don't recognize the pathetic scene he is painting the world over.
All BO has done since he took center stage is to increase the polarization of this country and steel the resolve of the previously silent (but now increasingly vocal and active) majority of Americans to defeat his marxist ideology and policies - Americans who do not hold or cotton to either.
These are seriously dangerous times - with the "leader of the free world" apologizing for America and promoting "change" that threatens the very freedoms that most of the world envies and wishes were their own.

What did you say to Manchambo? Oh yeah, off topic.

Naw, Obama owes the past administration for his presidency just as Bush owed his to Monica Lewinsky. The Republicans had no chance after Baby Bush. Al Gore would have been Prez if Clinton hadn't disgusted the American people with his affair. Change is the American way.
And we owe the IOC and the Nobel Prize committee for making BO a complete laughingstock in the world's eyes. It is sad his followers don't recognize the pathetic scene he is painting the world over.
It seems that the only the right see it that way. Reaction from the world:
"French President Nicolas Sarkozy says the awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize to Barack Obama embodies the "return of America into the hearts of the people of the world."
"In a message to the U.S. president, Sarkozy expresses his "very great joy" for Obama and says the honor should strengthen the U.S. leader's determination to work toward peace, justice and "maintaining our planet's great balances."
Yom Egeland, the executive director of the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs, said the Committee's choice of Mr. Obama was "courageous and positive." Egeland said he believes it was the president's U.N. Security Council resolution to rid the world of nuclear weapons that resulted in the award going to Mr. Obama.
Afghan President Hamid Karzai said Mr Obama's efforts for global peace make him the appropriate recipient.
The European Union hopes it would encourage people to create a safer world.
The 2008 Peace Prize winner Martti Ahtisaari, the former Finnish president and veteran troubleshooter in international conflicts, said the award should "encourage" Mr. Obama's Middle East peace efforts.
Archbishop Desmond Tutu of South Africa, who won the prize in
1984. He said Mr. Obama's award shows great things are expected from him in coming years.
The Palestinian Authority's Chief Negotiator Saeb Erekat welcomed the Nobel Committee's decision, saying he hopes President Obama will achieve peace in the Middle East.
Israel's defense minister, Ehud Barak, said in a statement, "I believe the Nobel prize will strengthen President Obama's ability to contribute to a comprehensive peace in the Middle East."
A Hebrew University political scientist and a former director of Israel's Foreign Ministry called the Nobel decision "brilliant" and said it should provide momentum and encouragement to his peace effort.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Of course those radical right wingers do have some support for condemning the award. I birds of a feather do flock together.
A dissenting voice was raised from an Islamic Jihad leader who dismissed the prize as "political, not based on morals."
That qualification found no support from the Taliban, which condemned Mr. Obama's Nobel Peace Prize, saying that he has not brought peace but rather has continued the policies of his predecessor.
Sami Abu Zuhri, a Hamas official
"Obama has a long way to go still and lots of work to do before he can deserve a reward. Obama only made promises and did not contribute any substance to world peace."
Good company there right wingers.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
These are seriously dangerous times - with the "leader of the free world" apologizing for America and promoting "change" that threatens the very freedoms that most of the world envies and wishes were their own.
After "W", we need to apologize, but there is nothing in the present agenda that threatens freedom, unlike the last administration which believed in taking away our freedoms.
The world is agog - apart from looking stupid with lockjaw most of commentators have failed to realize the one thing that Obama has bought to the world - hope.
In a time of mistrust, of cynicism, of confusion, if not despair - Obama breathes new life.

I actually thought that one of the prerequisites for deserving a Nobel "Peace" Prize was bringing in peace or being a champion for it. So how does this award go to a man who said this:

Yeah let's bring on peace by repeatedly calling white people racists, and then top it off by saying that it is bred into them. For a little added juice, lets have white people call other white people who oppose my views racists because they do not support me.
Sounds like an award well deserved to me.

What does either of these men telling the truth have to do with the Nobel Peace Prize. Most all people have prejudices in some manner and we need to face the truth about this so that we might become better.
Obama's Grandmother sounds like a typical white person. I see her reaction all the time. I have had reactions like hers. It is life as we have it in America. No ethnic group is free from prejudice.
