Isaiah 8:12-13 (NIV) "Do not call conspiracy everything that these people call conspiracy; do not fear what they fear, and do not dread it. The Lord Almighty is the one you are to regard as holy, he is the one you are to fear, he is the one you are to dread."
I think I'll just keep using the release candidate until it expires (I only use it on a VM anyway), and then hopefully by that time the price will have gone down a bit...
...But probably not.

My son got the free upgrade when he bought his laptop before school started. He knows nothing- really! about computers, other than the basics of what he needs it for. I wonder if Windows 7 will really be better than Vista? Guess I'll have to wait to hear from 'real' users- everything else is just hype for now, right? I know that the little I've seen of Vista I did not like. My office computer came with Vista, and my support dept was so disgusted with it that they took Vista off and replaced it with XP.

Windows 7 is what Vista was supposed to be. It's a lot more stable and smoother. It's a lot like Windows Me and Windows XP really..

I've been forced to run win 7 since it was released to enterprise customers in August (final, not beta/rc/etc). Not very impressive. I think it's also interesting how some major reviewers are starting to change their tone as well: Study: Windows 7 doesn't boot faster | Beyond Binary - CNET News
