Hi I had a question...I visited an Apostolic Penetcostal church the other day and was kind of taken back and bombarded by one thing..that the women had really really long hair or wore it up real high and wore skirts only....what is up with this? and I noticed no makeup either? Is this part of their beliefs or a preferred dress style? Also too I have been looking up apostolic beliefs and one i read somewhere was that they dont believe in putting themselves in a situation where they might have to hurt or kill someone so many dont go to the military or leave ...and im thinking in my head..i wear makeup and im about to be a cop and will have to wear pants...carrying a gun so maybe this might not be something for me?? I am really searching for a new church home.

Probably you can get the answer you're looking for by checking in with one of the Pentecostal forums. Here, the word "Apostolic" means churches IN APOSTOLIC SUCCESSION. None of our churches adhere to the dress regulations you are inquiring about or hold to the views about the military that you described, BTW. |

I think you want the Penticostal forums. This forum is for those churches, Catholic, Orthodox, etc. that have the leadership of their Church that can be traced back to the Apostles. (see here: List of popes - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)

If not, are there questions we can answer about our churches; such as the Orthodox, Catholic, and Anglican Churches?
In any event, your search will be in my prayers.

Chances are, not many people will see your question about the orthodox church under this topic. So, I suggest that you post it as a new thread on this forum; and/or under "Christian Communities", and then "The Ancient Way-Eastern Orthodoxy."
I've been an appreciative student of the Eastern Church for years. But, I'm sure that our Orthodox friends would much rather answer your questions for themselves.
May God guide you to the right church, soon.
Michael

Troparion - Tone 4
Commanders of the heavenly hosts, we who are unworthy beseech you, by your prayers encompass us beneath the wings of your immaterial glory, and faithfully preserve us who fall down and cry to you: “Deliver us from all harm, for you are the commanders of the powers on high!”
Holy Archangel Michael, pray to God for me. "Why do you increase your bonds? Take hold of your life before your light grows dark and you seek help and do not find it. Well, the thing is, we follow Christ - not that Christ follows us. [and our preferences]
Bless you in your search.
