"No revival ever took place without repentance." <> Major Allan Price <> Peterboro Salvation Army Temple <> September 20, 2009
Makes sense to me. We, as God's people, need to repent for ourselves, if we expect there to be a revival. We should also repent of the sins of our nation as well. At least that is my fledgling (sp?) understanding of revival.
To me revival is a grace gift from God, God moves so powerfully thru the Holy Spirit on so many individuals that there is a revival. Repentance takes place, people pray, people worship, people want to meet with other Christians for teaching and fellowship and worship.
The implication that if people pray there will be a revival, if people repent there will be a revival just doesn't follow or fit the facts. I've seen a lot of prayer in my life can't say any prayer that I've known of lead to a revival. Same with repentance. Ofcourse they all help.
I was apart of both the Jesus People and the Charismatic revivals as far as I could tell it was just something that God did cause He wanted to do it. Any other reason given is just guessing as far as I can tell.
A while back I heard a 60 y/o pastor say he had never been a part of a revival. It made me pretty say. He's a praying man, lives a holy life and loves his flock, that are people that love God ... but no revival. As far as I can see there are hundreds of pastors like him around the world, yet there are only a few revivals. That's why I think revivals are a soviergn move of God.
