I'm not saying i'm right about this, but what is your definition of Potestant or anyone else that wants to respond? God Bless.
A Protestant is generally described as one who accepts the articles of the Christian religion but, unlike members of the Catholic churches, also follows the Biblical principles which were asserted during the Reformation (1517-ca.1648) of the Church. Those would be the following:
Scripture, the Word of God,as our final and ultimate source of doctrinal authority.
Faith in Christ as the means -- and the only means -- by which we are saved in eternity.
And that the way by which we are enabled to have that faith in Christ is Grace, God's free gift to us.

Thats great, that seems right to me but i was in a baptist church one time and they said i was saved by the neme of jesus and it really didn't seem right when i heard it. I could be wrong.
They vary heavily although they tend to be theologically and politically conservative. I was a member of Church of God -- Anderson, IN (imo, Non-denominational is a weasel term anyways) and they had arminian views on soteriology but were closer to baptists in other theological respects, they also were a bit charismatic but nothing like tongues and random chaos. Services were contemporary, something I have grown out of myself but it may be what you are looking for.

Well, we aren't saved by a name, you'r right.
My guess is that the church or preacher involved was speaking poetically, as does the verse in the Bible which says that there is 'no other name given under Heaven by which we must be saved' (other than Jesus, that is). I'm sure the church would be disappointed to know that anyone took it literally rather than understanding that when "name" is used here, what is meant is "the person who is named."

I thought about it that way, that the a Name respresents everything that person is and does. I just read in bible that we are saved by a few things and i didn't remember reading that a name saved us, but now see that that might be true, thanks.
