Because many people have emotional problems that lead them to thinking they don't deserve happiness. I think that may be part of it. Otherwise, I don't know.

Yes indoctrination does tend to have this effect on it's subjects.

That is true, but I seen the opportunity to use God's Word for my answer so if I had just answered "No" then I wouldn't of had to post these verses which make the answer perfectly clear.
