Reps: 10 (power: 0) | | Lust? Me and my friend got into a conversation the other night about lust. He stated that lust is anything regarding the desire for sex. For example, when you longingly look at a woman, mentally undress her, or masturbate, you are lusting for her.
However, I thought that the literal definition of lust; the intense desire for, was too broad to specifically describe certain sins. For example, what if you had a intense desire to eat a sandwich, or meet someone?
My reasoning is, if you were to never even check a girl out, how would you ever get married?
What do you think? |

Exactly. Lust, if you look at the Greek, is the same as coveting- desiring something that isn't yours AND intending to take it.

But I think that OFTEN, people confuse discussion with fighting. Disagreeing is not personal, it is not an attack, it is not disrespectful or flaming, it is not offensive per se. It ONLY means, "I disagree." Nothing more. Nothing less. It suggests NO emotional response whatsoever.

Uh... figuratively speaking, yes.

The Bible also speaks of the lust for money being the root of all evil. Lust is beyond a normal desire, it's something that can consume you and distract you from more important things of life.

Then my intense desire for sea food right now is wrong.
