And anyone who does not take his cross and follow me is not
worthy of me. Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever
loses his life for my sake will find it.
-- Matthew 10:38-39
Jesus wants us to seriously look into our hearts and surrender
those things that hold us back from fully following and serving
him. We know what they are. He comes to us with his now
nail-scarred hands and reminds us that he gave up everything to
redeem us. He now wants us to surrender to the Cross the things
that hold us back. Let's do it today!

The door of entrance
We are too accustomed to think of Christ as a door of mercy for our souls, but not of health for our bodies, as the door to heaven when we are dismissed from earth, but not the door of access to men.
We forget that His Kingdom is an universal Kingdom, and His dominion everlasting, that He exercises no divided sovereighty, that He made all things and gave them laws of their existance.
He is also the light of all our seeing. If the eye be single, the whole body will be full of light, and if we follow the light, we shall be led into the ways of that hidden wisdom by which all things have been constituted and are kept in being.
Having His spirit we stand in relation to all things and all being, our minds possess a fellowship of nature with all thoughts, our hearts are moved by a sympathy with the attractions, instincts, and personal affections which proclaim the drawing together of all things, while in our deepest natured awakened a sense of our Devine childhood, which seeks and finds access to God the Door

A little humor
A food editor of the local newspaper received a telephone call from a woman inquiring how long to cook a 22-pound turkey. '‘Just a minute,’' the food editor said as he turned to consult a chart.
'‘Thank you very much,’ replied the lady and hung up."

Foregetfulness of God
Forget God! is this possible?
When we see His eternal power and Godhead in all things above us and about us.
If we look up to the heavens, the heavens declare the glory of God.
If we look around us here, the earth is full of His goodness.
But men, do forget God.
Foregetfulness of God is the source of their wickedness, and if this sinful conduct continue,
it will induce punishment than all created power could remedy

The Psalms
The psalms capture the intense as well as the ordinary parts of the life of faith by reminding us that no part of life is beyond God’s reach or attention.
They remind us that God receives the prayers of those who are sick and need healing:
"Be gracious to me, O LORD, for I am languishing; O LORD, heal me, for my bones are shaking with terror." (Psalm 6:2)
And with us, they celebrate that God is near to hear our praise, our joy and our delight in his handiwork: " O LORD, our Sovereign, how majestic is your name in all the earth!" (Psalm 8:1)

Jesus has purchased us at an infinite sacrifice.
All ourcapabilities and our influence are indeed our Saviour's, and should be
dedicated to His service. By doing this we show our gratitude that we have
been ransomed from the slavery of sin by the precious blood of Christ.
Our Saviour is ever working for us. He has ascended on high and pleads in behalf of the purchase of His blood. He pleads before His Father the agonies of the crucifixion. He raises His wounded hands and intercedes for His church, that they may be kept from falling under temptation.
If our perceptions could be quickened to take in this wonderful work of our Saviour for our salvation, love, deep and ardent, would burn in our hearts.

Christ is coming with clouds and with great glory.
A multitude of shining angels will attend Him. He will come to raise the dead, and to change the living saints from glory to glory.
He will come to honor those who have loved Him, and kept His commandments, and to take them to Himself.
He has not forgotten them nor His promise.
There will be a relinking of the family chain. When we look upon our dead, we may think of the morning when the trump of God shall sound, when "the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed." 1 Cor. 15:52.
A little longer, and we shall see the King in His beauty.
A little longer, and He will wipe all tears from our eyes. A little longer, and He will present us "faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy." Jude 24.
Wherefore, when He gave the signs of His coming He said, "When these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh."

"Sumit yourself to God"
The word "submit" means to put yourself under God, under His care and power and strength; to yield to God, to His will, command, instructions, laws, behavior, and Word; to surrender yourself to God for Him to strengthen you so that you can do exactly what He says.
What this means is to focus your mind upon God and His Word immediately when temptation trikes. Turn away from the temptation, push it out of your mind and begin to think about God and go over and over His Word in your mind. Just begin to resist the devil by focusing your mind
upon God and His Word.
Persevere in following God's command and in resisting the devil. When you do, the most wonderful thing will happen. The devil will flee and the temptation will be gone. We cannot even listen to the enemy's tempting offer--not even for a moment.
Picturing the temptation moves us a long way down the road to defecting and sinning against God. The only way to conquer temptation is to immediately submit ourselves to God and to immediately resist the devil and his temptation.
We may have to struggle.
The images of the temptation may attack and attack us, but if we will attack back by rolling God's Word over and over in our minds, the temptation will flee.
