Door to door witnessing

One of the best ways to door to door witnessing was when we come up with a survey. We would have a clipboard and a Bible. We would Say “we are taking a survey for our local Congregation, would you help us in taking this survey?” We found that people were more open to answering a survey than to just having someone preach at them.

Example of my survey;

You can make up your own Questions. At this point you can address the persons answers, or give them a track, small bible, personal invite to your congregation and leave. Here is a track we made up.


THE BIG ?
If you had died one minute before you started reading this, do you have the assurance you'd be in heaven?
People have many different ideas about this question. Some say if you live a good life, others say if you go to church, others say keeping the ten commandments, or born to religious parents. Let's see what the Bible says.

• All have sinned and come short of the glory of God (Rom 3:23)

• The wages of sin is death. (Rom 6:23)

• God showed that he loves us by sending Christ to die for our sins. (Rom 5:8)

• Anyone who calls upon him will be saved from his sin. (Rom 10:13)

• For there is no other name under heaven given among men where by we must be saved. (Acts 4:12)

If you want to be saved and have the assurance of going to heaven you must believe (Trust in, and rely upon) Jesus. He has already done the work, all we have to do is receive it. Pray this prayer to God and mean it in your heart.

Dear Jesus. Forgive me or all my sins and save my soul. I repent of all my sins and ask you to come into my heart and be lord of my life. For I give myself to thee. Thank you for hearing my prayer and saving my soul. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

That's cool. I like that survey.

For door to door, I like to start off by introducing myself and telling the person that we are out this morning inviting people to our church and I'd love for them to come. It just seems to be disarming as the person knows right where you're coming from (i.e., you don't want anything from them). And from there, hand them some Gospel literature and just start witnessing.

I like your idea about the survey. We did something similar in town on the high street. Asking people to answer a couple of questions in a survey and then looking for ways to expand the conversation. I found it really hard, but others in the group had loads of good chances to share the gospel.

With this question, it might be a good idea to have the right answer as well? Such as 'by being born again______' or something similar, otherwise you're sort of forcing them to give you the wrong answer...

Excellent idea about the survey! Maybe I'll suggest it to my church. The only thing is, if your not actually doing a survey, its kinda deceptive. So I'd suggest you really do compile your information and use it later for other things (maybe a use would be for targeting the houses of non-believers and skipping good Christian people who don't need your help).

The #1 excuse for us not to witness, is the inability to recognize and pounce on the right opportunity. Recognizing when the Lord has opened the door to speak to someone about HIS Glory is a key element to effective witnessing.
The first thing that you need to do is pray. Pray that God will use you to GLORIFY Him by guiding you to those whom need to hear the Gospel. Pray that he will help you to be a diligent servant by giving you the determination to gain a full grasp of The Scriptures by studying in order to spread HIS Word, not your opinion. Don’t make the mistake of relying on yourself too much! There are many ways to spread The Gospel and Witness for the Lord. One way is to go Door-2-Door. This is no doubt among the most difficult and probably the least effective way to witness this day and age. Being rejected time and time again can be a very demeaning experience. The right attitude to have when you are going door to door is, “If we get rejected 1000 times, but accepted by one, it is ALL well worth it!” Keep in mind, serving the Lord is not always easy and no matter how much you do or do not get accomplished, doing HIS work is NEVER a waste of time. Be humble and take your experiences and learn from them. Pray for those whom reject God’s Word so that they may be convicted and will realize that they are in desperate need of a Redeemer!
