Reps: 179,739,429,465,460 (power: 179,739,429,466) | | | I really enjoyed the translation of the New Testament made by Holy Apostles Convent and Dormition Skete for it's accuracy. At times it sacrifices readability for accuracy so I liked to read it along with the RSV or ESV (which I tend to use the most.). Unfortunately I gave it away to someone so I don't have it anymore. You can get it on Amazon. It also comes with Patristic commentary. |

Reps: 179,739,429,465,460 (power: 179,739,429,466) | | It's amazing to me that the ESV has become so popular. I remember ordering it when it first came out, and how happy I was with it. It's really quite a balanced translation -- balanced between accessibility and accuracy, I mean.
I like the ESV too but I've noticed that most the time it has the exact same wording as the RSV but I like the old fashioned language in the RSV Pslams better for some reason. That seems to be one of the only differnces though.
Lately I've been reading the New Jerusalem Bible a lot. The more I read the better I like it.

Agreed. The ESV is the RSV in modern linguistic garb -- and only slightly veiled at that. It's more user-friendly for the average reader who's dissatisfied with the NIV's "equivalence" but not moved to manage with antiquated writing styles.
