The Collection Plate

About three years ago I was a member of a church where the pastor gave a 45 minute sermon on tithing. He explained how tithing is not a requirement for christians. I was so proud of him for his stand in a church that normaly preaches tithing. Then a little over a year later when things were kinda tight he called a meeting of all c hurch office (I was one) and sunday school teaches etc. and told us that if we were not tithing we should give up our position until we would start to tith!!! Not long after that they no longer got any m oney from me. Yes, I did tith at times and sometimes I could not. BUT he was teaching the truth when he preached the first sermon on tithing then he preached not ther truth in his second sermon. When a preacher can decide weather or not to teach the whole truth it is time to leave that church. One of the many reasons that I am catholic today.
