I read in someone's signature once, "to learn about Church History is to cease being a protestant."
I think an honest reading of Church History will also show that there was originally a conciliar character to the 5 patriarchs, and that over a period of time, one of those patriarchs began changing, and assuming for himself a universal jurisdiction that was novel and unprecedented. Throughout the centuries, the teachings of this Roman patriarchate has continued to change, causing the great schism, causing the protestant reformation, and allowing numerous unchristian atrocities to be performed under the indirect authority of this patriarch/pope.
I think that the protestants who look at this history objectively, will naturally come to the conclusion that the Orthodox Church is the True Church, which holds to the True Faith, unchanged, of the Apostles.

"No matter how "right" you may be on various points, you must be diplomatic also. The first and important thing is not "rightness" at all, but Christian love and harmony. Most "crazy converts" have been "right" in the criticisms that led to their downfall; but they were lacking in Christian love and charity and so went off the deep end, needlessly alienating people around them and finally finding themselves all alone in their rightness and self-righteousness. Don't you follow them!..."

"Personal opinions have no role in ministry of any kind. When we represent the Church, then we ought only say and do what the Church has asked us to do. All else is wasted energy and an opportunity for sin. It is when we lapse into personal opinions, even when we dress them in the language of the Church, that conflict will arise."

Ah ok. Can you provide me with some more websites to look in to the Eastern Orthodox Church with?
I think that a lot are attracted by the fact that it is True Christianity. most Protestant denominations are some kind of attempt to either return to the original way of Christianity or to purify whatever Church they used to be of excessiveness. typically when they really and, as Proto said, honestly look back at what Christianity has always been, they find that the True Church has been there all along.

another book that I would recommend is Becoming Orthodox by Fr Peter Gillquist. he was a former evangelical who converted to Orthodoxy along with many other evagelical Christians.
