I have been pondering some questions I had for a while.

1) A pastor told me. "God won't love you anymore if you fast for over 40 days." (Because at the time I just finished fasting 40 days, and asked him if I should continue out the fast)
did you do your fast according to the bible, which is no water or food for 40 days?

tell the pastor to read you his statetment from the bible!

But what about people who do missionary work, and pastors that help bring people to Christ, and that do baptisms, wouldn't God love them more?
I don't under what you are saying

2) Do you get rewarded accoring to your works?
as long as the works pertain to what he requires us to do.

we have mans version of work, then we have Jesus version of work.

3)When you die, do you immediatly go to heaven or hell? Or are we in a deep sleep, until Jesus' second coming?
read these two verse concerning these 2 great men of God

David
Acts 2:29 Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us unto this day.

David was dead a long time before Peter made this statement. yet his sepulchre was still there

Job
Job 14:14 If a man die, shall he live again? all the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come.

when do the change come? at the 1st resurrection

4)Is hell enternal burning or is it a second and final death of the spirit as well?

Rv 20:10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

5)Are we still under observance of the 10 commandments? If so why do we still work on the sabbath? It is the day God rested and we are also supposed to rest.
Dan 7:25 And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.

the anti-christ changed times and laws

1) A pastor told me. "God won't love you anymore if you fast for over 40 days." (Because at the time I just finished fasting 40 days, and asked him if I should continue out the fast).
But what about people who do missionary work, and pastors that help bring people to Christ, and that do baptisms, wouldn't God love them more?

God loves us in different ways, but He loves all of us. He may show His love to the faithful servant with a stronger sense of His presence, for example, than He will show to the backslidden person. But if the backslidden person comes back, God will show His love through forgiveness. He has already demonstrated His love through the offering of Christ on the cross. He can't show more love than that!

2) Do you get rewarded according to your works?

Yes; this is a clear teaching of Scripture. Here are just three examples:
a) In Mattew 6:13-15 we learn that if we do not forgive others, then God wil not forgive us.
b) In Matthew 24:45-51 we learn that the unfaithful servant will be treated differently than the faithful servant. (This is not about saved versus unsaved/ those terms are not used - and anyway Jesus does not call any unsaved person His servant!)
c) In 1 Corinthians 3:14 we find that we will receive a reward if our works are based on the sure foundation of Jesus Christ.
d) In 1 Cor. 11:30 we find people being judged in this life because they did not honor the Lord's Supper.
e) In Acts 5 we find Ananias and Sapphira his wife dying because they lied to the Holy Spirit!

These are all examples of people beign judged according to their works.

3) When you die, do you immediatly go to heaven or hell? Or are we in a deep sleep, until Jesus' second coming?

In Revelation 6:9-11 we find martyrs very much conscious of their surroundings. They speak, listen, hear God's voice, and are aware of the passage of time. They have bodies, for they are given robes.

4) Is hell eternal burning or is it a second and final death of the spirit as well?

Revelation 20 tells us that Hell will be emptied so that people will be judged. then hell will be cast into the Lake of Fire. Contrary to popular belief, hell is not forever, but the Lake of Fire is.

If hell is simply the total destruction of the being, then the force of the warnings about hell are overblown. But if the punishment of hell is horrific and enduring, then the warnings are to be taken seriously.

5) Are we still under observance of the 10 commandments? If so why do we still work on the sabbath? It is the day God rested and we are also supposed to rest.

We are not required to follow the Ten Commandments in order to be righteous with God. We obtain such righteousness by faith in Jesus, as many verses say (Gal. 2:16, 21, 3:6).

Hello,

I don't think I could give you a better answer than Soundcard. You mentioned hell and people burning for ever and ever. I am unable to post links because my post count is less than 50, but if you do a Google search for "the bible hell" (include the quotations for accuracy) you will find an excellent book authored by J.W. Hanson in the late 1800s. It's completely free and it goes through extensive detail regarding hell in our bible. It's a good read if you have the time.
