Hello out there. We're on the air. It's hockey night tonight...
So, not to leap into stereotypes, but anyone want to talk hockey?
Who's going to do what this year?
My Habs look like it might be a rough year but I guess you never know with Les Glorieux.
As for my Canucks (yes, I swing two ways), I don't know that they are stronger or weaker than they were last year... likely heading for the playoffs... could win the division... but who knows how deep they might go?
Perhaps it is simply time to say the hockey prayer... which really goes however you want - something about protecting players and referees (except for Sean Avery)... best to use the term "fleet of foot" at some point.... avoiding labour disputes..... CBC firing Don Cherry soon... Sundin making up his mind before Christmas.... the Coyotes moving to Ontario - whatever you want to say, as long as it ends with the line, "And Lord, may You ensure that the Leafs and the Flames finish the season at the bottoms of their respective conferences.... Amen."
And truly, to that, I say Amen.

Sure I can talk hockey, but I'm not overly fanatical - poring over the rosters and such. I really only pay attention to the Canucks and I don't watch all the games. I usually make it to one live per season (thanks to my boss's season tickets.
As far as your end line, I would actually want to see Calgary in the playoffs facing Vancouver. These have been some of the greatest series in my mind - it's just the way it should be.
The Leafs can go and rot though (but I do have a soft spot for Burke though, despite the ego).
Agreed on the Habs. They're my team and have been since I was 2 weeks old (I have pics to prove it). But I am not holding out much hope this season. Middle of the pack, playoff bubble team this year.
The Canucks, on the other hand, I hate. Even more than the Leafs. And I live in Vancouver! But even I must admit that they look fairly decent this year. Strong defense and of course Luongo will take some pressure off of the offense, but I'm still not convinced that the Sedins are enough. Playoffs, lose second round.
Other than that, I don't know. Detroit, Chicago, San Jose, Pittsburgh, Boston, Washington; I figure those will be the top of the class and the ones to beat come April.

I think the Canucks are a playoff team, but I doubt how far they'll go once they get there.

I am both an Oilers fan (long-time fan, as is my husband [who grew up in Alberta, I did not]) and a Canucks fan (since moving to the city 6 years ago, I've absorbed the fandom, what can I say!)

i'm a flames fan. top of the division! woot! kipper is doing great.
although i kinda swing two ways too...canucks are awesome, mainly because of the sedins and luongo.
and what's with teams like buffalo, atlanta, colorado, los angeles, phoenix and columbus doing well? where'd detroit, vancouver, anaheim and montreal go??
so what'd you guys think of ballard smacking vokoun across the head? should he be suspended?

Flames do look very good this year. Kipper is definitely having one of his best years in a while. The Nucks should start to improve over the remaining season - they have had the weirdest schedule so far, plus there is the upcoming Olympic road-trip of doom.

Buffalo - good coaching
Atlanta - not sure
Colorado - good goaltending, but they seem to be starting to sag a bit lately, but still fairly solid.
LA - good looking team, but I think they have some injury problems now.
Phoenix - decent team, good goaltending, too bad no one watches them in Glendale.
Columbus - not sure
Detroit - from what I've seen, never count them out.
Vancouver - injuries, inconsistency
Anaheim - that is a puzzling one right now, should be much better than their record.
Montreal - I think injuries are catching up to them and goaltending seems inconsistent.
