You would probably agree that society today has come closer to a tribal sort of life with tattoo' s and piercing being quite normal and no worries about what other's think, But it just goes to show what people will do to express themselves and get noticed
Actually, I disagree severely. Call me crazy but I think modernized, secular, Western democracy is pretty far away from a "tribal" life. Tattoos and piercings don't make anyone tribal, talk about a massive stereotype there. Associating then, those piercings and tattoos with a feeling of "wanting to be noticed", although possibly a motive, has nothing to do with being tribal. There is nothing wrong with expressing yourself. To each his own, I say, as long as it does not conflict in any harmful way with others. Also I am of the opinion that tattoos and piercings on girls is rather attractive, if they are done well.

Dear zoness AS you perceive it I will hold no guile about it but to reiterate what I said before That I feel that things change from generation to generation...what is cool for you and Your generation could and probably be very uncool a couple of generations from now, in the form of apparel that is.That's all, God Bless You in in the precious name of Christ, Amen...Dave
I don't really see any problem with showing some cleavage. How low of a shirt is appropriate...I think it just depends on the woman and how well endowed she is. A smaller chested woman can get away with really super low cut tops and it doesn't come close to looking inappropriate. A more endowed woman...Well, there's a limit to how low her shirt can be before it looks trashy.

"At least one-third of the Bible is poetry ... For example, the creation acounts of Genesis are liturgical poetry, not history or science. What is literal about poetry is that God did it, and because God created, the creation has meaning. When we insist, as some do, that the creation account be turned into a science of the origins of the world, we lose the heart and soul of the poetic message and turn a liberating imaginative poem into a dry intellectual fact that must be affirmed scientifically. This deadens truth."

K9 trainer....spot on. I'm well endowed and anything that isn't a turtleneck leaves me rather exposed. I spent a good part of puberty and teen years and early adulthood trying to hide any hint of cleavage just to avoid the possibility of being perceived as trying to flaunt my chest. Finally, maturity set in and I've learned to embrace my body. I still have no desire to try to put them on display but I don't fret if they are a little more pronounced in certain outfits. I figure I know my intent...and it's not to sexualize my body or draw attention to my breasts...it's to look nice and feel comfortable.
I also have a few tattoos and I consider them accessories and art....like wearing a wedding ring or a religious piece of jewelry. My tattoos are very personal and imo, beautiful parts of me.

That's very sensible. But without getting into "where should the line be?" we need to see that the overall dynamic is that males are attracted to females (and vice versa) by design. Thus, no matter how overly or skimpily dressed a woman might be and within any society, men will assess her femininity and its attractiveness. Even with a full burkha a Muslim women will be considered as attractive by men in that society.

Yeah, I know, that's fine. I didn't address that as the thesis in my post anyways, it was more of a side note to let you know where I stand on the cultural line.

I speak from experiance, sometimes women can wear something that draws attention to their "assets" without truely meaning to. I am very top heavy, and it is a chore to find a bra that fits, much less a shirt. I usually have to go with what fits the ladies, not what fits everywhere else.
parents seem to be very opinionated about other people's kids and suffer brain
damage when it come to their own....
if it is inappropriate for school....for church.....to go out in public....perhaps mom should speak to "baby paris hilton" about what garish, gross, lewd, and in bad
taste is about....
and for those who do not listen....imagine the same woman at 55....and what happens to everything as you age.....and smile....no longer matters...no one is
watching....except 60 year old men....

55 is not old for a woman, and if she stays in shape, she can get looks from much younger guys. Trust me on that.

Cultural factors are hugely important. In biblical times the human body was not a mystery. Nudity related to family life and work was common. Our covered up culture may well be heightening eroticism in the name of modesty while advocating sartorial styles.
