I was browsing in one online forum that I frequented, majority of its members are American. One member suddenly posted a message saying how she loved Jesus. Then hell broke loose and all members started making fun of Jesus.
And this is not the 1st time this happens. I was really sad to see they made fun of Jesus. Is there any reasons why some American really love to make fun of Jesus? Isn't your country motto "In God We Trust" ?
Here down where I live, eventhough the muslims are dominant, nobody dares to laugh at Jesus or Christian. I was surprised to see some American can laughed and made fun of Jesus openly in internet.
Well, America is not a Christian nation, first of all. There is no state church, and consequently no laws against blasphemy. Nor do we need that. We don't need the kind of persecutions that various Christian denominations visited on each other in Europe when the Constitution was being drafted.
These people generally do this because they are immature and because they do not appreciate the truth when they hear it. The Pharisees did not appreciate the truth when Jesus proclaimed it to them, and they eventually had him killed. Why wouldn't there be insults. God-haters have been around since Biblical times (Romans 1:30, Philippians 3:18-19), and this is an example of modern day God-hating. They'll repent though, or for those of them that do not, they'll wish they did when they had the chance.

If you mock something, it does not mean you hate it - I often make fun of family members and close friends, but that certainly doesn't mean I hate them.
All the more so if you don't believe in whatever you're mocking. For example, I find the notion of a divine flying spaghetti monster to be hilarious, but that does not mean I hate the flying spaghetti monster - and if somebody were to declare, in all seriousness, their love for the flying spaghetti monster on one of the forums I frequent, of course I would be tempted to make fun of the notion and show the "pastafarian" quite how ridiculous their belief is. Besides, how can you hate something that you don't believe to exist?
These people may see Jesus in much the same way as I see the flying spaghetti monster - it may be because they horribly misunderstand the faith, it may be that they simply have a subconscious wish to affirm their own lack of faith by joining other non-christians in the act of mocking Jesus, or it may be due to some other reason. I'm no expert.
In today's time, when sin is running wild, it is easier to live for ones self than it is obey God's word. On different forums that I visit, people try to find "loopholes" or different scriptures to try and prove that God doesn't exist. Some admit that they grew up in Christian families but find reasons why not to be a Christian. If you know the truth, and dont want to follow it, it is easier to mock it, and live the worldly life.
It will become easier as time goes by to make fun of Christians, and before God's final judgment, Christians will become persecuted. IMHO, it wont be long before Christians and the church become a hate group.

Yes but everyone has the right to free speech, If we decline them the right to say what they want, then we decline them simple human rights. No one has to believe in god, and his words aren’t certain, but their right to say as they want is as fair as our right to believe in god.
Stussy, many Americans have gotten soft, lazy, arrogant and unthankful.
I think Jesus reminds them of this, and so they mock him.
If they lived a few years wherever you live (in a Muslim dominated land), I think they would find a new found respect for Christ and his teachings.
I hope Americans will return to civility and respect in the way that they express themselves in public. It is really quite shameful what our society has descended to.
It is not just in America, all over the western world, believing the Bible to be the truth and Jesus the only true way is subject to ridicule and hate. I just lost a friend who is a pagan but claims to be open-minded and accepting of all faiths. Not so, she detests fundamental Christians and God, calls us elitist. It is really sad and it hurts when it hits you personally. G&G

I just wanted to say that I agree, America is not a Christian, that is a false impression people my get. Yes compared to some european coutries it may seem christianly but keep in mind that half of those who proclaim to be christian do so only to along with everyoneelse. I recall speaking to one guy and someone asked him why he went to church and I didnt really know just that everyoneeslse did do he did too. I wonder how many so called christians in america would still be christians if they where threated to be stabbed numerous times( stabbed to dealth) , not many I am afraid.
