No silencing was necessary. He silenced himself by committing a crime that usually entails heavy jail time.
Just because you have a different opinion doesn't mean you get special treatment. |

Taxing a non-profit organization? eg, an apologetics ministry?

Nope, it was never declared as such, and besides, he WAS turning quite a profit nonetheless. |

Yeah, sucks when reality doesn't play your way, huh?
Hovind was a tax-dodging charlatan who got what he deserved. No conspiracy was necessary to shut him up, his actions made that pretty much inevitable.
As I said, just because you have a different opinion doesn't mean you get special treatment. |

As has been pointed out, there was no tax-exempt organization. In any case, his most recent convictions were for failure to collect and pay income and FICA taxes for his employees, and for attempting to evade bank reporting laws by repeatedly withdrawing amounts just under the reporting threshold. Those things are illegal whether it's a non-profit organization or not.
Obeying tax laws does not seem to be Hovind's strong suit. |

Nor is science for that matter.
Anyways, as mentioned earlier, treating your employees as self employed missionaries does not prevent you from paying taxes. |

LOL what?
real museums have facts, Hovind had a theme park which was full of opinions. In the end though he silenced himself by breaking the law of America.

Just like an evolutionist to make a mistake into some kind of dishonesty.

The only mistake he mad was thinking he could get away with it.
ps: evolutionist doesn't exist.
pps: under the law a mistake still means you pay the price. I ran a red light once, it was a mistake, but that doesn't mean there were no consequences. But you will notice that the court found that what he did was deliberate, NOT a mistake. Thus the harsh fines an penalties. He is lucky his life sentience was lowered to a few years. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | | | |
