People...I lost my Girfriend

I drink to much...I might be only 20 but I do have a problem I think.,..I drink sometimes at 9-10 in the morning (2-3 beers-sometimes) and I love getting err drunk

I drink everyday of the week..just beer ..My gf dumped me because I drank 2 much and fought with her (usually when I am drunk...though I had reason 2 fight I just go overboard and get much 2 angry over something stupid.....)]

I am sorry you are suffering and lost your girlfriend. This may actually be a good thing in the end, if it helps you seek help.

If you are drinking as much as you say, you should probably be detoxed off alcohol in a rehab setting. I urge you to call your family doctor and ask for a referral to a rehab/detox. Be totally honest with him/her. It is dangerous to detox alone. People can die if they do not get the proper medical attention while detoxing off alcohol.

Then, go to a rehab program for as long as your insurance will let you. Learn and listen to the lectures. Share honestly how much you drink, and why you drink that much.

Then, get to AA meetings and get a sponsor. Work the 12 steps. There is hope.

Do as Trish suggests, and also search up the South African site for AA. It, like this forum, is made up of people who've been where you've been and whom you can talk to.

You posted originally on September 8, and it is now November, almost 2 months since your post. When were you planning on taking the first step? Are you attending AA meetings yet? The longer you delay examining your recovery options, the longer it will take you to get out of denial and sober.

I have decided that next year I will be getting help. I will be attending a psychiatrist(for my depression) and going to AA. Well that is what I hope Madison Its just that I am in the middle of my varsity exams and so still drink to calm myself etc

Next year? Will you be alive then? Will you pass your exams while still drinking? Do you drive? Will you kill someone while intoxicated?

I know people who have died from the effects of alcoholism. I know people who failed in their studies while still drinking. I know people who have killed people while under the influence.

If you are serious about getting help, you should seek it immediately. Why must you wait to see a therapist, and psychiatrist? Why is alcohol necessary to calm yourself? Physical exercise and deep breathing also help to calm oneself. I completed a Masters of Social Work, and worked full time while doing so, and I never had a drop of alcohol during the three years I was in school.

Thanks Madison I still drink every day... but my studies are really actually good! Madison I have really bad depression and anxiety and need to see a psychiatrist...I think this is the conclusion on why I drink. And no ways in heck will I drive under the influence but thanks for the concern ! Just my family situation has turned to the worst which is why I can't seek help yet if you only understood the situation.Thank you Madison for your concern! You are a start!
