For New ChristiansThis forum is for new Christians to ask questions and be encouraged by other Christians. Here you can post your questions and talk about issues relating to new believers.
Well, I'm grateful to be on this forum, really nice people on here.
Anyways, on to the main part.
Well, I'm going to get a Bible sometime this week, but I don't know where to start off? Like do I just read a bit everyday? Don't know how to properly explain it, sorry.
I also attend a Sunday Church, and a Youth Camp is starting up again, will be attending that too.
I also pray more too, Dinner, before I go to bed, or if some one is hurt that I know.. The car crash I was in a few days ago has changed my life.
Is there anything else I can do to get more knowledgeable (if that's the proper word) with God?
Sometimes God gets our attention really quick doesn't He - It is wonderful that you are choosing to serve Jesus.
Just walk your walk showing the Joy of the Lord remembering that Jesus is your friend - sticking closer than a brother. Walk with Him, talk to Him listen to the nudging of the Holy Spirit. He will always be with you and it will all come natural for you as you grow closer and closer -no need to try - just do, make your steps and God will lead you.
You are on a new path and may God's Glory surround you daily as you walk hand in hand with Jesus.
The Bible is a long read, I reccomend like most Christians would that you begin with the New Testament (Start with one of the 4 Gospels). I also love the Epistles (try Paul's letter to the Romans).
Is there anything else I can do to get more knowledgeable (if that's the proper word) with God?
Take it slow, read, pray, read some more - God will always be there. Dont try to fully understand (if that's possible) God in a short space of time. You said you belong to a church - get involved! Get to know your Priest (or pastor) better, they will always be on hand to help.

Everyone else has already given you good suggestions. I just have a few additional things for you to consider.
It is good practice to pray and ask God for guidance regarding what to read in His word. It may not feel like you are getting much of a response initially, but keep working at it. God is always speaking to you. Hearing him takes a little practice on our part.
I also suggest that you find a mentor. This is someone who is more knowledgeable than you when it comes to the bible and knowing God. Find someone who will be open and honest with you. You can ask them questions and hopefully they will give you great guidance as you increase your walk with the Lord.

there are countless websites that depict "Bible in a year" guides: A couple chapters a day that will get you through the Good Book in 365 days. Problem is, just reading it does a limited amount of good: you need to UNDERSTAND what you're learning in order for it to make any sense. find that mentor, join a Bible Study (or two, or three), if you can't find one, ask your church to start one. There's an almost infinate amount of information and an even greater amount of opinion to digest.
Ah, I remember when I got my first Bible. I was so excited I didn't know where to start! I pretty much knew most of the famous stories of the Bible but I really wanted to get wisdom and guidance from the Word.
It was a little bit easier for me if I did it based on how I felt that day. If I was upset or frustrated I would look in the back of my Bible and trace to see what passages gave me advice to deal with those certain feelings. It wasn't long before I was going to them on my own and becoming hungry to find what else I could do with myself.
It seemed like the Bible had all the answers (because it really did!) and instead of running to my friends to complain I turned to the Word and let God guide me on the right path.
You should give it a try and keep involved in the church. I learned so much from my brother and sisters in Christ and I made really great friends who were just as concerned as me about my relationship with God!
Man, for someone like you, if you really want to get into it.... Read the New Testament first..... IMO, these are more "interesting" and relevant stories.......... and keep in mind, that your own desire to be involved with this is greater than the words on any page.
You could honestly start just by being outside and relaxing and opening yourself to the experience.....
There are so many different Christians on Earth, you don't want to get involved with which domination is "right" or whatever. I think you should first just look upwards, especially at night, and see some stars which you know are billions of miles away. Then, you know how vast the Universe and God must me.
Then, start to read the NT... It holds my own personal interest better. The Bible is a pretty long book. If you are not a super-speed-reader, it is going to take a long time to read it all.
First, just be open to the vastness of God, IMO.. then.. the NT... and when you are ready, if ever, try to read the whole thing at your own pace.
Different people go through their own ways of reading the bible. I read it in order, like I would a novel. Many go to the New Testament first, but for me it just made sense to start in chronological order and continue from there.
The best way to get to know God and establish your relationship is through prayer, the bible, and other Christians. It seems like you are on the right track from your post.

Keep the words of Jesus in your heart, that is the work of God -- to believe in Jesus. Many say, "I believe Jesus" but do not keep His word. If you want real salvation, you must show you believe by keeping His word.
You can probably find some good descriptions of the books. I'll just rattle off some of the things I think about with certain books.
My fav': Ecclesiastes.
Relatively easy-to-read Gospel (Jesus' life story): Luke & John
Story of the church's early years: Acts
Big book of theology: Romans
The worst things you can do with Christianity: Galatians, 2 Peter
Trouble in the early church: 1 Corinthians
Christian encouragement: Philippians, Ephesians, 2 Corinthians, 1 Peter
Church, covenant, and the criticality of faith: Hebrews
A church worried about the end times: 1 & 2 Thessalonians
Items in your personal walk: James
Handling difficult times: certain Psalms
