Some big hurdles I am jumping in regards to that right now! I converted from Protestantism to Catholicism last year.. it was a difficult journey in some ways but so much worth it! I think Catholicism has just the right balance of orthodoxy of doctrine (believing what Christians have always believed) and yet no fundamentalism (ie: you don't have to believe the earth is 6000 years old, cause the Church accepts more than one possible interpretation of Genesis)
God bless you

Very interesting observation. That, by the way is the main reason I'm an Anglican--having the right balance between Catholicism, because it went beyond what the Church always has believed and, OTOH what you have more or less labelled as fundamentalism.
Lutherans or members of some of the other mainline Protestant churches naturally feel the same way.
Blessings to you.
