IHMO, this is the basis of all morality even that which is supposedly derived from religion.
So I take it you evolutionists were against us pulling out of Vietnam?
Or was it 'beneficial' that N Vietnam and S Vietnam become 'one' for the good of the species?

Can you elaborate how you think the Vietnam War affected the human species? |

How's this for starters?
I was on Guam when the S Vietnamese started coming over in droves.

Or do you just want to talk about the sunny side of how evolution works, and kinda sweep the dark side of evolution under the rug?
If, as Pete Harcoff says, mutual trust and cooperation are beneficial to us as a species, why did some of our species back off from 'fight' and let 'flight' take over?
Note: Some in flight mode couldn't run fast enough --- wanna see their pictures?
You like to talk about 'fight or flight' and 'natural selection' so much --- wanna see what happens when that stuff happens to 'our species'?

What? I know you tend to go off on these complete non-sequiturs, but....

evolutionists don't exist so your point really doesn't make sense. |

Yeah, i bet i could get some ugly pictures of people splatted on the cement right after 911. Everyone wants to talk about the pretty side of gravity and religion. If, as Pete Harcoff says, mutual trust and cooperation are beneficial to us as a species, why did some of our species back off from 'fight' and let 'flight' take over?
because we tend to only trust our own tribes. Same goes for the religious when they slaughter each other and both claim to be religions of piece and love. Remind you of anyone? It happens between village, nations and religions. Whats your point? Note: Some in flight mode couldn't run fast enough --- wanna see their pictures?
sure. You like to talk about 'fight or flight' and 'natural selection' so much --- wanna see what happens when that stuff happens to 'our species'?
Well that tends be used when dealing with an aggressor and the reaction one has. At one time I was probably a flight kindof guy, but now that i am in tune with my physical body i am probably a fight kindof guy. oh sorry thats not the answer you wanted. you wanted this.
probably lots of blood, crushed bone, oozing intestines, rotting flesh, tears and pain. |

I'll tell you what, MoonLancer --- you guys keep on preaching how beneficial evolution is to the "species", and we'll keep exposing the Malthusian side of it --- how's that?

Who of us "evolutionists" ever said evolution was all love and fluffy pillows? Evolution is and always was hard. Look at nature. It might be pretty looking at through a window or TV screen, but these things are the daily routine: |

Sorry about the rant --- this post just rubbed me the wrong way: Originally Posted by Pete Harcoff Mutual trust and cooperation is beneficial to us collectively as a species. Therefore it makes perfect sense why we try to get along as a group.
