Perth quadriplegic Christian Rossiter has won a landmark legal case giving him the right to starve himself to death, but now says he could yet be talked out of taking his life. Mr Rossiter, who won the right to have his feeding tube removed in a judgment delivered on Friday by West Australian Chief Justice Wayne Martin, thanked the judge for his benevolence.
Speaking through a tracheotomy tube at Perth's Brightwater care facility, where he lives, Mr Rossiter said he was happy that he had won the right to die.
"I'm happy that I won my right to die, and (have) no sustenance and no water," he said.
...
Justice Martin said it was his task to apply the law to the case dispassionately and it was important to emphasise what the case was "not about".
"It's not about euthanasia ... nor is it about the right to life," he told the court.
...
"It's my decision. I'm a religious man, I say the Lord's Prayer, I pray for world peace and the dolphins and the whales," Mr Rossiter said.
He said he did not know whether he was destined for heaven.
I am still thinking about this. In one way, he wants to commit suicide. But is the situation any different to when a brain dead person is removed from machines that are artificially keeping them alive. Probably is different ...

Pah
Thats only the Start
The Savior of the US of A, Obama has started a little more than that. He wants to restart the "Useless feeder" program again.
Basicaly- anybody old or ill that affects there ability to provide value in the community should be euthenased.
What a charming bloke

Put it this way, I currently have the ability to end my life because I am abled body.
This is a case where a disabled man is fighting for the dignity to choose.
I think this is what this case is about. His right to choose.
I think this is a start to something very dangerous. Yes he should have a right to choose for himself if he lives or dies. However, if they start legalising this, it will start out innocently but my worry is that it will swiftly move to families being able to decide for an ill family member and will only get worse.
It's his choice and I'm glad he won the right to choose for himself.

thats fine, but what about when it gets to euthanasia against someones will? Don't say it won't happen, happens in Holland which started out as voluntary euthanasia but soon changed.
There are few articles around that show that the Dutch are also trying to puch the euthansia bill further with euthanasia of children and infants? Some research even shows that in the Netherlands, 31 percent of pediatricians have killed infants. A fifth of these killings were done without the "consent" of parents

To me that is different from what happened in this case. Let's hope that it doesn't spread like you're saying with non-consent termination.
