I am considered a nice guy by many, not to brag but people like m. I am calm and easy going and very even tempered. I have been married for 18 years and still unhappy. My son is 11 and I love him to death. My wife, I cannot find the love I should be giving her anywhere in my heart. I have looked very deep and nothing, just friends and being nice to someone. I cannot understand this anymore and I am looking at others. Recently I met another woman and felt that spark in my heart. Why cant I feel that for my wife? Am I such a weak poor minded man that despite what God wants I am not good enough or deserving? My wife is liked by a lot of people and they all have good to say about her. I just dont know anymore
Love is not a "spark" it is a commitment (see 1 Cor 13) to the best interests of another. Feelings are a byproduct not the genuine article.
I recommend that for the next month you focus on loving your wife as 1 Corinthians 13 describes it. Also I suggest you read Gary Chapman's The Five Love Languages which discusses differing ways of expressing love and explore finding what communicates love to your mate.
You may be surprised at the results. Are you up for this challenge? You made a vow to your bride so the challenge is just a follow through on that.
My prayers are with you.
Chaplain Steve
