I trust God to know what combinations are best for the human body, and to give us the scientific curiosity and mental ability to concentrate smaller benefits into effective medicines.

Even "traditional" medicines don't usually use just bare herbs, barks, and seeds. You steep them in water to make tissanes and poultices, you steep them in alcohol to make tinctures, etc. (side note, alcohol distillation probably came about for medicinal reasons)

God gives us the raw materials. And the smarts to figure out how best to use His gifts to soothe and heal.

Many people think that the question should be: have you made Jesus your Lord? Have you invited him unreservedly into your heart? Have you completely dedicated every part of yourself and your life to him?

The trouble is that when we are truthful, the answer must always be "No." So let's ask the question a different way.

Has Jesus given everything for you? Has he dedicated his whole life to you? Has he invited you into his heart? And the answer to that is a glorious and gracious and conscious, freeing, comforting YES!

(paraphrased from Pastor Wolfmueller, Table Talk Radio)

Do you trust man diluting chemicals down until they're effectively nonexistent and then smacking it with a stick?

Man's finite wisdom (very finite in the case of homeopaths) and fiddling is quite capable of turning beneficial chemicals into water as well.

It's still man who has figured out how to extract the chemicals that work from the herbs, barks, seeds, etc. God gave us a brain to figure these things out.

I'll grant that some natural extract have a better combination of chemicals. But, they also have a wider range of side-effects because the medication in them isn't very specific. For instance, vancomycin came from a fungus in the soil somewhere in southeast Asia. But, it didn't become the killer antibiotic it was until man extracted it, identified it and synthesized it. Eating the dirt would have done precious little to stop nasty infections.

Worldview Matters with Brannon Howse - August 10th, 2009

"Worldview Matters with Brannon Howse (New Program)
Hear for yourself the ad the federal government is running for the National Guard in their attempt to hire internment/resettlement specialist. This comes on the heels of The Department of Homeland Security calling conservatives "extremists", the White House calling on Americans to snitch on other Americans that are opposing the Administration's healthcare plan, one the President's men calling an attorney fighting for the free-market and private contract a "terrorist", the Pentagon giving a test that declares protestors as "low-level terrorists" and the President looking to set up "Preventative Detention Centers" for people deemed to be terrorist but who cannot be tried. The job postings on a military website say the jobs are here in the United States. Given what we know about this Administration and our corrupt elected officials in both parties and at every level, are we wise to have red flags? Perhaps their attentions are honest and virtues but many Americans are compiling all the evidence and are coming to the conclusion that the price of freedom is eternal vigilance and as President Andrew Jackson warned in his Farwell address, our greatest threat to freedom "is from within." I wonder if I can sign up with the National Guard

Or maybe the Army.
GoArmy.com > Careers & Jobs > Internment/Resettlement Specialist (31E)

Think I can get any recommendation from anyone on this site ?

If they find a Christian mistaken in a field which they themselves know well and hear him maintaining his foolish opinions about our books, how are they going to believe those books in matters concerning the resurrection of the dead, the hope of eternal life, and the kingdom of heaven, when they think their pages are full of falsehoods on facts which they themselves have learnt from experience and the light of reason? Reckless and incompetent expounders of holy Scripture bring untold trouble and sorrow on their wiser brethren when they are caught in one of their mischievous false opinions and are taken to task by those who are not bound by the authority of our sacred books.

Preventive detention - Washington Times

"Preventive detention

New national security minefield

By Nicholas N. Kittrie | Tuesday, July 14, 2009 "

"
Circulating in White House corridors and through Justice Department offices is a proposal for the creation of a controversial new national system of preventive detentions. This latest proposed anti-terrorism measure might be merely an attempt to better meet the "need to incapacitate dangerous people," or it might extend so far as to encompass the "full gamut of national security issues from intelligence gathering to prosecution."
Not since the infamous 1950 McCarran Emergency Detention Act, passed over President Truman's veto, has serious consideration been given in America to a program that would surrender to the executive branch the power to indefinitely detain security "suspects."
Should the Obama administration, awaiting a special commission report on the subject by July 21, adopt such a course, suspected terrorists and sympathizers could be subjected to long "civil" or "administrative" detention without trial or access to the panoply of due-process rights guaranteed to legally arrested and grand-jury-indicted suspects deemed to be dangerous. Perhaps most troubling is that these proposed "abbreviated" emergency measures might be instituted not through an act of Congress but via an executive order by President Obama. "
