“It's an important distinction to make because on more than one occasion the reaction to such a figurative lynching reference, or some other figurative reference has been painted to make it look as if the people laughing and cheering would do the same with a real lynching or other unacceptable event.”

I wonder if our liberal friends on this forum would consider this an unacceptable event?

Conservative Activist Assaulted at Missouri Town Hall

Quote:

“But it’s conservatives who engage in violence and hate speech, right?
The Saint Louis Post-Dispatch is reporting that one of their own, reporter Jake Wagman, was one of six people arrested in connection with the beating of a conservative activist outside of a town hall forum held by Democrat Congressman Russ Carnahan.
According to Dawn Majors, a Post-Dispatch photojournalist who witnessed everything unfold, an officer said that Wagman had been “interfering.”

“From the article:”

“Kenneth Gladney, a 38-year-old conservative activist from St. Louis, said he was attacked by some of those arrested as he handed out yellow flags with “Don’t tread on me” printed on them. He spoke to the Post-Dispatch from the emergency room of the St. John’s Mercy Medical Center, where he said he was waiting to be treated for injuries to his knee, back, elbow, shoulder and face that he suffered in the attack. Gladney, who is black, said one of his attackers, also a black man, used a racial slur against him before the attack started.”

“It just seems there’s no freedom of speech without being attacked,” he said.”

So guys, here you have a black man, who happened to be a conservative, attacked by a number of people for showing up at a town hall meeting for a Democrat Congressman to voice his opinion, and was actually attacked for doing so. Actually attacked.

So which angers you more, a Republican making an off-hand joke about congressmen being lynched, or an actual lynching? Suppose this particular black man had been a democrat attacked at a meeting for a republican congressman? How do you think the news outlets would be handling the story then?

Insert sound of crickets chirping here……….

“You know, if you had posted this 8 months ago, it would have ended up in the government pockets anyways.”

Again, according to your opinion. Did Bush ever call for Americans to rat each other out over speech the white house might find offensive?

“The government wants to know the hidden rumors you people spell to each other but don't have the courage to put up on a website.”

So now Republicans and Conservatives are part of some grand conspiracy, speaking is a secret code and hidden rumors to undermine the administration of Fearless Leader. Right…..

“They are numerous.”

Post one.

“It takes someone sending the message over and over and over. However, someone can intercept it and probably does rather quickly, and send it to the government so they can address these hidden distortions like it's fair to do.”

Suppose for a moment that any of this is true. Do you really think that the president doesn’t have access to the airwaves to go out and deliver his message, and that his minions don’t have access to the airwaves to go out and deliver his message? They need to call for the American people to spy on each other, report “fishy” overheard speech, forward “suspect” e-mails to a white house website so they can address a “distortion”? My god…

“They could care less about the people involved.”

Sheer naivety, to be kind.

“It's not like it's Warrantless Wiretapping. It's not like it a government intercept through AT&T. Are you even serious or are you pretending panic here?”

Those programs were aimed at terrorist, actual terrorist or those who may have terrorist links, and not the old lady next door who might be worried about what Obama-care is going to do to her health-care options. How can you not see the inherent danger here?

Then there is this:

Sebelius calls her SEIU “brothers and sisters” to battle; Dennis Rivera decries “terrorist tactics”

Quote:

HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius held a brief conference call with SEIU members this afternoon.

She hailed them as her “brothers and sisters” and urged them to show up at town hall meetings.

She gave the same stultifying mini-lecture about the sanctity of Medicare. “Change is not easy,” she droned. “We need to roll up our sleeves.”
No mention of how SEIU thugs rolled up their sleeves and attacked a black conservative protester in St. Louis or ran interference in Tampa Bay.

In an attempt to reassure SEIU members that senior citizens would not suffer under Obamacare, Sebelius said “Saving lives saves dollars.” Which might come as news to Zeke Emanuel.

Sebelius thanked an SEIU member who showed up at the Tampa Bay melee and urged more to get involved. “Keep doing what you’re doing.”
SEIU heavy Dennis Rivera then took over, taking calls from scripted SEIU members who read statements (one of which was painfully, barely coherent).

Rivera closed by railing against the “radical fringe” of “right-wingers” and urged his “Purple Army” to fight “terrorist tactics.”

I'm not even sure you know where I'm coming from. Have of this hardly addressed what I'm trying to tell you. I have no clue where you are coming from.

We want to know the distortions you guys pass through chain emails becomes something that has to do with "Obama and his airwaves?!" What on Earth are you talking about? I'll have some of your Crazy Chain emails for you on Sunday if everything works out this weekend. They are funny to read and quite disturbing.

Check your definition of Opinion too! You use it in very broad context, as if opinion means:

Anything posted that doesn't agree with me = opinion

This is such ridiculous trope you are asking me to rebut that I'm not even going to do it the service. I'll check into the black republican that got lynched however, that's a claim you did make. But seriously, where are you coming from?!

LOL, everyone watch the video of the Black Guy that's conservative get trampled by supposed SEIU members. Tell me if you can make those accusations with any real face left. I see SEIU shirts meandering about while a fight goes on. There is nothing to corroborate the claims made by Gawron, go figure, and the video provides no detail what-so-ever.

It would be hard for anyone to know where your are "coming from" given grammatcal structure such as this. However, I suspect that you are refusing to "rebut" my post because you can't do it in a rational manner. Video of "the Black Guy", thanks for proving one of my points. So, I will wait for someone rational to respond.

BTW, if it is truly the case, it should be condemned. Violence is not the answer, be it this gentleman or the Democrat in Tampa yesterday. Racial Slurs should never be used either. Lynching is a word that should never be brought up and laughing at it makes you as guilty as saying it.

I'd pull anyone aside that decided to obstruct meaningful debate in any way, no matter political affiliation. This whole TEAM mentality is going way too far.

Whatever makes you feel better about yourself Gawron, seriously, you keep thinking you are a bastion of knowledge no one can overcome. I'm not answering you because you foist irrational claims as a response. Look, I know there isn't a person alive that thinks they are irrational, so I don't blame you. But, everyone here can see I used correct grammatIcal(there is an I in there) structure in that sentence. So we all know what is up.

I was told by a friend on this board that I should really leave you alone. So, I think I'm going to do that and save myself some time. If it makes you feel better, think that you are soooo rational, that me soooo irrational that you shied me off of you.

EDIT: OK, I guess I typed to fast and did miss a HOW. My bad. Let me check my spelling though... I'm prone to mistakes.

Speaking of rational response... you have yet to respond to my post #12:
