WASHINGTON (CNN) – A new national poll indicates that white and black Americans don't see eye to eye on last month's arrest of Harvard University professor Henry Louis Gates. The CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey, released Tuesday, also suggests a racial divide over President Barack Obama's initial comments on the incident.

So forget the unbelievably ridiculous sentiment this post desparately tries to convey and let's all enjoy the irony of using term "maroon" when discussing the acts of a black president and their implications on race relations....

Indeed, it is too bad for me.

So, really, the only thing one should really be mad at the President about is not stopping his comment with his line about "not knowing all the facts." He was still right, albeit accidentally.

There are no "racial undertones" except the ones you create in your own mind. But you're serving a purpose though. You're exemplifying the attitude that wants to make racial problems where there really aren't any. So thank you. Keep talking. |

The only things that were stupid were Gates' tirade and Obama's statement, not the arrest. I think it was John Stewart that said " I don't have all the facts should always be followed by silence." |

Arresting someone for committing no crime is absolutely stupid. Gates clearly committed no crime, as all charges were dropped - they had nothing on him. Gates needn't have been yelling, but the cops are paid to handle situations such as that professionally, without making false arrests. I hold them to a higher standard. I think it was John Stewart that said "I don't have all the facts should always be followed by silence."
And I agreed explicitly with that sentiment. Did you even read my post?

I'm not saying there WERE racist under tones. Don't worry! I didn't think for even a minute that you know what a maroon is.
I was just pointing out the irony; you would be more than welcome to join in appreciating that irony.
If you prefer, I can make fun of you for using words whose meaning you do not know, because that's a whole nuther issue.
In terms of this whole Gatesgate thing, I can barely care less. I don't know one thing about the issues or facts. I'm guessing the president spoke too soon, it sounds like he admitted to that. The whole situation sounds stupid and overblown by very single person involved; from the first cop, right up to the president (including gates...but again, my knowledge of this ain't that intimate).

As soon as he starts yelling at police and being uncooperative, he is guilty of disorderly conduct, which is a catch all charge commonly used by police to cuff and stuff until the person calms down. No yelling = no arrest. The vast majority of DC charges are dropped once the situation is under control. And I agreed explicitly with that sentiment. Did you even read my post?
I did. You may have agreed with part of the sentiment, although

And they did handle it. There was no false arrest. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | | | |
